Athetic Mixer?

Hey guys,

So next week my sorority is having a "Mathletes vs Athletes" party, where the guys are dressing up as mathletes and the girls are dressing up as athletes. Any cute ideas? Pics appreciated

It's Halloween. Surely party city has a cheerleader or sexy ref costume. How about dressing up as a dodgeball player?

Wear a jersey from one of the teams from your hometown. Or you can't go wrong with #16. The guys will be looking "nerdy" with plaid shirts, glasses with tape on them, etc.

Or you can get a bunch of other girls in your pledge class to be a team--like you all wear Tigers jerseys or Pistons Jerseys or something like that.

Tennis skirts/dresses are usually a popular choice for girls; they fit the theme and look feminine and cute. I wouldn't go out and buy one for the mixer, as tennis clothes can be expensive, but you can probably find someone to borrow from. A visor with a ponytail and some small jewelry would complete the look.

Oh....memories of undergrad!

-I would forego the "lady-like" sports (i.e., figure skating and-I hate to say it-tennis skirts) and go for something with a more rugged uniform (hockey/football jerseys, softball jersey, pants, socks and shoes, etc).
-Get some of the glare protection in your schools colors (the black stuff you see athletes put under their eyes) If you can get your sorority's colors even better (though if you are a Kappa, a DZ, or Gamma Phi, to name a few, you are going to be out of luck on that one)
-At least one or two girls need to try to get referre shirts and wear whistles and have yellow hankies to throw. Particularly if you need someone to act as ice-breakers with folks you don't know, that is a great way to get involved (i.e., calling party goers for "fouls")
-Have a group of girls go as the U.S. Soccer team. Super classy and sexy ladies. Have them wear fake gold medals.

ONE WORD OF CAUTION: Do not turn this into a total parody of female athletics. I had friends in college who played women's sports, and at Halloween they saw girls doing a parody of "butch athletes" (in this case, women's softball, but with the players OVERLY butched out and pretending to chew tobacco and act like overt lesbians...not cool).

Remember, if you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter.

Cute idea for a mixer! Can I ask which house you ended up joining? (I saw your other threads, and I'm guessing your rush was successful, so congrats!)
