Winthrop Univ. chapter

OK when I was freshman you guys had a chapter here at Winthrop University. I truly wish you guys would help reactivate this chapter because it is really dull with 3 active fraternities. We used to have 4 but right now one is on suspension. We have 5 sororities and when we are matched up for Greek Week and Homecoming the pairs are unequally matched. During homecoming 2 sororities had to pair up. The year I came I heard that Sigma Nu was awesome but when I came to WU the membership was fleggeling. PLEASE come back to us!

The expansion team has gone to lots of deactivated chapters lately. If there's a market at Winthrop and the school wants Sigma Nu back, with enough alum support it can happen!

What would it take to get a market for Sigma Nu? I know that Sigma Nu didn't haze anyone so of course hazing had nothing to do with the loss of status on Winthrop. So, I wouldn't think that Winthrop had anything against Sigma Nu reactivating. I think the only thing would be Winthrop's relationship general relationship with fraternities. The only fraternities at Winthrop that never gave anyone any trouble is Kappa Sigma. The other three: Frat #1 - a freshman got alcohol poisoning at a party; Frat #2 - too much alcohol; Frat #3 - drug abuse at a party. So KS and SN are the only 2 without causing any trouble.

Is there anything I could personally do to get things started even though I am a girl in a sorority? I mean I am all about you guys reactivating at Winthrop.

Convince some guys to form an interest group... That's about all I can really say. They would have to take it from there. Some gentlemen at Longwood College in Virginia just completed the process of becoming a chapter after founding a simple interest group on an already large greek life type campus a couple years ago. It's possible.

We appreciate the compliments

You're very welcome! I mean I knew a couple of guys that were SNs and they were really funny, wonderful guys that were there for me when I needed it. Unfortunately, they are both gone due to graduation. I didn't keep in touch so who knows right?

We just need some more fraternities on this campus (as well as sororities for that matter). Things are always the same old thing!
