How is it going brother? This is my last year in Chico so i have yet to move on. Fall Rush went great big numbers overall for everyone. Since Chico's reputation has suffered due to alot of prior incidents we can't rush First Time Freshman until Spring Rush. So our Spring rush is big. Usually Fraternities get around 3-9 guys. I haven't heard much from other houses only from a couple of friends in the top houses how their numbers went. Sigma Chi took an incredible 15 guys for Fall, followed by Kappa Sig 10, Theta Chi 9. I don't know how many pledges the other's have gotten yet, as soon as i know i will inform you.
Yet this is how we are compared to other Chapters
Sigma Chi- around 70 (with pledges)
Kappa Sigma (with pledges 63)
Theta Chi (around 50-60)
Sigma Pi (35-45)
Phi Kappa Tau (30-40)
Phi Delta Theta (25-35)
Sigma Nu (25-35)
Alpha Gamma Rho (20)
Delta Chi (20) they only got one pledge.
The greek system here changes dramatically every year. For example my first semester Fall 06 Beta Theta Pi, Theta Chi, and Delta Chi were top houses. Beta got the boot, Theta Chi suffered with grades, and Delta Chi was at the brink of collapse and had to reorganize. Really Sigma Chi, Sigma Pi and Kappa Sigma have turn the tables. Phi Kappa Tau used to be a top house around the early part of the decade but made a porno and booted a lot of guys out. So its a constant survival here. I would say Sigma Chi, Theta Chi, and then it would be us as the big 3. We just need to get better at sports. However Beta Theta Pi is supposed to come back this semester as a colony and Pi Kappa Alpha who has yet to have a chapter in CSU Chico has already started expansion here. Again this universities Greek system is very unpredictable so only time will tell where our order will stand. Hopefully it continues to be stronger and strives to be the unanimous top house.
As for expansion in CA UCSD is getting Chartered this weekend Saturday with 45 members as the biggest Fraternity on Campus( Ther chapter will be the P-Psi Chapter). Cal St. Northridge may also get chartered. UCLA has around 36 in its colony, UC-Davis around 30, UC Merced 35, UC Santa Cruz 28, and Cal State Monterey Bay has 41. That is the only news i know. I get updates everyone two weeks so as soon as i hear something i will be getting you the info.
