Joining a Social Sorority?
What are your opinions of an SAI sister joining a social?
My grand-Aunt was an SAI sister and a sister of a local social sorority in the 50s. Is that still common?

Not an SAI sister, but....it really depends on the complexion/activities of the SAI chapter from school to school.

As 33girl said, it really does depend on the school you attend.
While a collegiate, I was also a member of Phi Sigma Pi, though it is not a social organization, it did divide time.
One of the founding members of my chapter was also a Chi Omega. And, one of our chapter advisors was a Chi Omega and SAI, though I don't know which one came first for either.
I joined Phi Sig after joining SAI and my sisters did not treat me any differently, but there are some schools where SAI functions much more like a social sorority. On those campuses, it may not be as common or accepted.

Honestly, I don't think it's a big thing. At my initiating chapter, we had several girls that were also members of Chi Omega, and some that were members of Delta Zeta. At FAU, I don't think any members are part of a social sorority, but we do have a girl that is also in Alpha Phi Omega.

At my school, someone who joined SAI and a social sorority would be a very busy woman, but like others have said, it varies by campus.

I don't know of any of my chapter's sisters who were involved in another Greek organization aside from Tau Beta Sigma or Kappa Kappa Psi. Only one I think was active in KKPsi and SAI simultaneously, while others had gained alumni status or were inactive in TBS/KKPsi before joining SAI.

One of my ADPi sisters is also a sister of SAI. I'm sure though it depends on the campus and the complexity of activities each organization requires the members to be responsible for.
No matter what, time management is key
