Lightbulb Friendly Venturing a young chapter in Columbus, OH

Hi ladies!

My friend and I are working on starting up a friendly venture chapter in Columbus, OH. The plan is to focus on young women (20's and 30's), as there is currently no young chapter in our city. Our chapter is mixed ages with 4 of us under 35, a bunch in the range of 40's and 50's and a few older ladies. As a preceptor chapter, we're also the lowest-degreed chapter in the city.

Someone kindly left me a comment on my personal blog suggesting I come visit here. (Erica, are you around here somewhere?) I had no idea there was message board for BSP!

I see that you ladies were discussing the need for young BSP chapters a couple months ago. I agree that it's a huge need and that's why we decided to do something about it! I would also really enjoy a chapter of ladies my age. I'm 26 and my fellow friendly venturer is in her 30's... we're planning to join the new chapter as transferees.

Anyway, I'm here looking for advice, suggestions, and/or possible prospective pledges (if you happen to know anyone in the Columbus, OH area).

Have any of you friendly ventured? I feel like I'm getting in over my head here! If you have done a friendly venture, do you have any advice to pass along?

Also, please check out our friendly venture web site:

Thanks in advance for any help or encouragement you can offer!

Cindy,

I have FVed two times... haha. I am wishing you all the luck with your FV. Im sure that you will recieve a lot of support from your chapter! Its rough having no help! Luckily I had Erica the second time!

My chapter is 'rebuilding' and hopefully will rock again soon!

Thanks Alison! Yes, our current chapter has offered their help in many ways and I'm thankful for that.

So, what were the biggest challenges with your friendly ventures?

Hey, there! I just added you to the Rosies Yahoo Group. Welcome!

The biggest challenge is simply finding members and coordinating schedules. People are kind of reluctant to put money into something that hasn't really happened yet. You have to convince them that BSP is special and worthwhile.
