candidates for National President

It seems like the "system" is set up for D. Peale, although my preference is Skip Mason--I think he brings a different energy, not quite as "status quo."

I honestly feel that the primary system favors peale, but the general election favors skip. I quite honestly was shocked at the number of delegates peale had, but then again (in my opinion) it would have been different if the east hadn't been split three ways.

I hope you're correct---not that the GP can do but so much; still, I just have this gut feeling about D. Peale that he's a complete figure head. I don't see real "vision" in anything I've heard from him.

My grad chapter all sent in their ballots (collectively) for Peale as majority vote had indicated. I abstained and sent mine in separately and just told them I forgot to bring it to chapter meeting.

Yeah I couldn't get with that collective voting mess. Everyone is entitled to vote for who he thinks should be GP. Everyone is factoring in experience, but having experience alone doesn't always make you the best candidate.

And I agree with you on the experience thing. But I tend toward having a problem with authority anyway . I remember when I was about a year old one of my prophytes asked how I felt now that I had been around for a little bit and I told him, I love being an Alpha BUT I have a hard time with the way nationals is run--it's basically a corporation and feels disconnected from the "grassroots" of everyday brothers. His response: "Yeah, I think everyone feels that way" (this was circa 1992-93). "Experience" to me, at that level, equates to "more of the same."

I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for, but I think emphasizing strength of the brotherhood, greater transparency, a stronger linkage between alumni and college chapters for mentorship as well as intergenerational fellowship, and a better sense of history (re-invigorating the meaning and origins behind all the rituals in a cultural-historical context) would be good. I think Skip comes closer to those aims and ideals than Peale does.

Sometimes I feel that way to although I am alot younger in the frat than you.
I do believe each has what the other needs to win.
