One big Greek family
I found this post by meridionaleDG and thought it was very sweet, and warranted it's own thread so everyone could see it again...
Here are some nice stats!
NPC consists of 3.5 millions of the women in sororities.
To me I don't care if my sorority has 300 chapters. It might give good bragging rights, but 1 or 300, I am proud of my sorority....
We are all one big greek family, and instead of finding out which crazy uncle has the most kids, we should be happy that all of us make up a huge community.
DG isn't one of the sororities with the smallest number of chapters, and it also isn't one of those with the most - but it is my home and it is my family. So hooray for whoever has the most after the cookie peddling 5 years old, and hooray for whoever has the least number of chapters! We all found a home and a family - and I think that is the best bragging right.
<3
(God, I am so hokie sometimes!)

I don't have it in front of me, but the Panhellenic Creed is pretty awesome!

The Panhellenic Creed
(we have to memorize it for initiation)
We, the undergraduate members of women's
fraternities, stand for good scholarship,
for guarding of good health, for maintenance
of fine standards, and for serving,
to the best of our ability, our college community.
Cooperation for furthering fraternity life,
in harmony with its best possibilities,
is the ideal that shall guide
our fraternity activities.
We, the fraternity women
stand for service through the development
of character inspired by the close contact
and deep friendship of individual fraternity
and Panhellenic life. The opportunity for
wide and wise human service, through mutual
respect and helpfulness, is the tenet
by which we strive to live.

Yes, Panhellenic brings us all together as a family and sisters on a grander scale than just our groups and chapters, why after going greek some of your close friends may even be in other chapters than your own which is awesome!
In fact, when I graduate in December, I'm joining the Alumnae Panhellenic chapter in Louisville (cuz there isnt one in Lexington ) so I can connect with and meet women of other chapters than my own I'm very excited about it too!!!!!!

This kind of stuff is what makes me sad that we're not national - I don't get to participate in Alumnae Panhellenics. I can help with Pan at MTSU but the odds that I'll be here the rest of my life are slim to none.

That makes me feel very sad, Crystal!
Chalk it up to another reason to consider AI, though!

I thought of something else..........
This has been said in other threads, but i think it's appropriate to say it here too.
Because Panhellenic brings us together as a bigger family as sisters.....this is where people get pissed off here (and for good reason) when someone bashes another chapter or their own.
Whether it's a GLO member who is bashing another GLO she doenst think highly of for whatever reason, or a PNM who has gone through the recruitment process and it didnt turn out favorably, it is NOT COOL for someone to bash someone else's home. Not just out of respect but I believe most of us have pals and in some cases close pals in other chapters on our campuses in addition to our own, which is excellent because that is how Panhellenic is supposed to work. I havent seen anyone bash my chapter per say, but i have seen it done here in different threads and it makes me disgusted. If someone doesnt like a certain chapter, fine but be tasteful and classy about it by keeping that to yourself.
Thats all I'm going to say about that.

I agree with that completley...I have good friends in other sororities and would never let someone bash them! Plus you have to wonder what reasons someone could bash on another sorority, cuz theres so much that all NPC sororities have in common, that they'd probably be making fun of your group as well.

I agree that bad mouthing other chapters is definitely a "no-no". I hope nothing in any of my posts gave the impression that this is what I'm doing. Though we're not NPC (hopefully I can add a yet on to that) we're a part of Pan at MTSU so we get many opportunities to get to know women from other chapters. It's one of the things I enjoy most about being Greek!
