Expansion at FIU

So, there's an interest group in Miami at FIU that is just awaiting to be associated with the fraternity. I'm not exactly sure of the date, but any day now the (about 60) guys from FIU are going thru the associate member ceremony for the first time. That is awesome, and I know you will all agree. I'm personally excited; here's why:

So, The international offices contacted my chapter's High Alpha and asked us to conduct the A.M. Ceremony on March 20th. This was good for us initially, but then Headquarters said they wanted it to be earlier, and so we handed it over to the area's alumni association. So, they will be conducting the A.M. Ceremony...which made me sad we couldn't be critically involved. However, later that week (last week) we had a High Zeta meeting and it was announced that our chapter would be in charge of conducting the actual Initiation Ritual for that new around-60 man class, assuming they make it through the semester until the greatest day of all. In the High Zeta meeting, after it was announced, I stood up and shouted of excitement. I am SO pumped for this! It'll be GREAT to see this new chapter form and actually be a huge part of it.

Quick Question: Has anyone else on here been involved in Initiating a chapter's first class? Please write...I have a few questions.

I'll keep you guys posted,
in ZAX,
grits hall

Didnt this College just have LCA like 2 years ago, as a colony no less, and they are recolonizing now?

Yes, they did, and they were good guys, but I don't think they ever really got going. I'm glad to see that they will be trying again. We were also talking about initiating them, but if someone else is doing it, there is no one else I would prefer. Good Luck Grits, and see you soon.

re: first initiation

I was around just after the first initiation of Colony 310
at Vanderbilt (now Gamma-Delta Zeta)....there is a major
difference which is kinda weird....we even had some
members of the alumni board who said that the "founding
fathers" weren't "real lambda chis" because of the difference
(they were over-reacting). I don't check my PM here often,
but you can email me at kjoiner0@georgetowncollege.edu
and I can tell you what I know.

Jas and Matt, maybe it was for numbers or such, but if they are recolonizing with 60 new people, that is a heck of a way to start!

I need to try to check in on FIU and see if gives any idea of Chapter sizes. Well, unless someone on here knows!

grits, good for you guys!

While I just went through The Alum Ritual ( Grad. 1967 ) still felt neat. Never went through an Pledge ( Still in the dark ages )/New Associate Ritual, But doing an actual Ritual, that would be fantastic!

We had Ks St U come down for Colonization, some guys from the Local who did not make grades went to U Ks. to be Initiated, and Drury did our Chartering!

Fast Times back then!

God, I wish I could find My Coat of Arms that had KSU sigs on it!

FIU update

so, word keeps coming in on the FIU initiation...

apparently there are about 30 guys over there, not neccessarily 60. so, we'll see how many actually make it all the way up to initiation, haha.

i'll write whenever I get more word.
