Red face Can I use my Church volunteering as philanthropy?

Hey guys!

So I'm filling out my application for a local sorority I want to join at CSU Channel Islands (Rush starts the second week of school but the application just opened up online), and I have done a lot of volunteer work, but the problem is, most of it was done through my church. Do you guys think it would look weird if I mention that it was done through church? Should I leave the church part of it out completely?

I do not know your campus culture; however, if I were filling in that application, I would absolutely include those experiences. My church affiliation is an important part of who I am, and I would want my potential sisters to know about it. I would venture to guess that many young people have their first service opportunities in religious organizations.

Best to use it, especially if you have no other volunteer experience. A blank form field is far worse than any perceived difference in type of volunteer service. Of course, you might just be over-analyzing.
