Duct tape definately!

Added those to my list...

Where would I go about getting an egg crate pad? I've seen em, never tried one tho...

Thanks for the ideas

I live for those stick-on hooks to hang things on. I use the ones from 3M that are called "Command Adhesive". They're the ones that come with the stick-um that when you want to take the hook back down, you pull from the bottom and it stretches and comes loose from the wall without hurting the wall. They're really useful and conveniant because you can put them anywhere, all over the place, and they come in a couple of different sizes. Just look for them in the sticky-hooks section of the hardware section in Wal-Mart or wherever.

As for an egg-crate pad, try Bed, Bath, and Beyond or any of those types of stores. At this time of the year they'll generally have a "going to college" section right at the front and you can probably find one there.

Glad to see you came down on the 'pro' side of the messenger-bag debate.

I cant say enough about sandals. The cheap $2.00 kind from wal-mart. You will want them for the shower. Even if you have one in your room that only you and your roomie use, you will want them. You will have no idea what foot disease others might have. Especially if you have communal showers, you will definately want them.

Also, get a small plastic basket to put all your showers supplies in, that way you can carry them all to the shower easily. A closeable soap holder.

Also a microwave if your dorm will allow them.

How could you forget laundry soap and quarters? Headache medicine, fan *unless your dorm has a/c....not all do*, and I know there is more...*grr* my brain is tired though

definately get a whiteboard. My roommates and I had one and all we wrote on it were phone messages.

-bandaids
-medicine...at some point you're going to need aspirin and dayquil etc so you might as well get it now
-sandals, not just the kind for the shower (though those are definitely needed) after the first few weeks of school you'll forget to do laundry or just not want to wear regular shoes..I'd never seen guys in flipflops until my first year of college...by the third week pretty much everyone on campus was wearing flipflops etc
-pair of pajama pants that you can wear out if need be (sometimes people randomly wear pjs to class...you should be prepared just in case)
-skip the ramen, it's gross and doesn't provide enough nutrition. Instead get canned foods like chef boyardee and soup.
-A can-opener. Nobody remebers to take them, but you will need it eventually
-pack of cards
-notebook paper, you can never have too much of it
-posters for you wall, dorm rooms and the like start to get lonely looking pretty quickly

Tha's all I can think of right now. Good luck and enjoy your freshman year!

A small tool kit, a definite must
Cleaning stuff, unless you can buy once at school
What about a room phone, unless the school provides them

Definitely check out target or bed, bath, beyond, it was nice to have like a chair in the room too for guests, if you can find one cheap

The closets in our dorms didn't have doors, so we hung nice looking cloth shower curtains to hide the mess. You may want to consider that.
