Jury Duty
This may sound crazy to some people, but I have really enjoyed serving as a juror this week. I got picked as a juror Monday for a civil lawsuit regarding a car accident and we finished yesterday.
I was picked again this morning for another case, but the judge declared a mistrial after the defense attorney said something in opening arguments that he should not have said. I do have to go again tomorrow morning, but it has been an interesting experience. I've been waiting for a while hoping to be called and I must say I haven't been disappointed. The whole process is just so intriguing.

I know that most hate jury duty, but I too await my chance to serve. It's not like a child hood dream or anything, I just want to experience what goes on in court rooms; and that would definitely be a plus if I could experience someone else's dealings as opposed to my own - if you catch my drift Soror AKAtude I glad you enjoyed yourself, I look at it as another learning experience.

I served as a juror for the first time in April. I enjoyed it too. It was a aggrivated battery case and got to be quite interesting. I don't think I would want to serve on a jury where someone could possibly get life or the death penalty - that would be a little much.

Hey... I was summoned for jury duty. . I immediately thought of this topic and my earlier response when I saw the summons. Now, am I crazy (?), because I'm really looking forward to it.

First, hello sorors and sisterfriends! This is my first post. I've enjoyed reading all of the topics so far. I just got a REAL computer at home and was pleasantly surprised to find this forum.
tickledpink - You're not crazy at all! I've been waiting for years and years to be called for jury duty! I saw that you posted in April that you'd never been called and now, in August, you have. I'm hoping this post will hurry up the process for me, too! ...I'm a lawyer who would just love an opportunity to see the other side of the process! Oh well!

And speaking of Jury Duty, if you get summoned you better go. Jermaine Dupr(CEO of SoSo Def Records, rapper, and hit R&B and Rap producer) is now asking I believe an apellate court or the Georgia Supreme Court to turnover his 3-day sentence cause he skipped Jury Duty. I mean damn, ain't that kinda harsh.

Skee-Wee Soror and welcome!
Skeee-yo and a historic "Kaaaay-Sweeet" to ya Nupe. Ironically, my summons was in a pile of "junk" mail that I never read and I just happened to look through that pile yesterday and saw it. I was scared to death at first because it was post marked August 8 (visions of blue lights and scandal danced through my head), but I'm not assigned to go until mid-September. Talk about a testimony -- God is truly good because it was embedded in between the junk pamphlets and usually, I just toss those in the garbage.

Ahhh good old jury duty...lol.. I got a letter in the mail the day of my birthday that was back in early May. I was excited at first then I saw the time I had to go in (you know being a college student I usually don't get up that early)lol. Anyways, I went in and in 3 minutes the judge dismissed the case. Oh well I guess another time.

Hey everybody,
I'm only about to be a senior in college and have already gotten called to serve on a jury. This was last summer. Even though I hated it at first (All I could think about was my paycheck getting smaller and smaller), I ended up having fun. I served for 2 WEEKS!!! The case dealt with an automobile accident and all 3 parties were claiming to have had injuries because of the other person's negligence. Despite the witnesses, video testimony, and the medical terminology that I had never heard of, I had a good time. I got used to those 2 hour lunches and even got to wander down to the Taste of Chicago during a couple of my lunch breaks. The most exciting part was deciding the verdict and the settlements. I was chosen/volunteered to be the foreman (forewoman I suppose) of the jury. It was hard trying to keep a room full of adults quiet and in order when I was only 20, but I believe that I did a good job. I even got interviewed by the prosecution in the end about how we reached our verdict. I learned a lot from that leadership experience and wouldn't mind being called to serve again sometime.

Well ladies and gents my time has come. I am ready to serve ... I sat for 2 days lawyers saying they don't or do want me and then finally today I was chosen for a case. I know I should be happy to be a part of this legal system in the US that we have but Jury Duty sure came at a bad time. I am crazy stressed out with Life, AKA, oh and especially WORK!! Maybe the lord is telling me to go to Jury duty to relax a bit, while still doing my part!!!! I don't know what I want BUT I hope the best comes out of this. Moving onto why I am stressed well I have to have surgery on Dec 18th, and that means more days off and so work is stressing me and then there is so much to do for myself personally, including AKA and church ... Lord please help me through all this, someone please pray for me, I would really appreciate it.
Well when I next get a chance I will update you all - till then be blessed.
Sisterly LadyAKA
