Soror Underwood
Congratulations to Soror Sheryl Underwood for winning the BET Platinum Comedy Award!!!!
She gave an awesome thank you speech that nearly had me in tears. When she thanked sorors for supporting her I ran around my living room yelling Z-Phhhhiiiii. I know my neighbors were like what the...
I just want to say a lot of celebrities have Greek affiliation but NONE represent like soror Sheryl.
Oh and now that she got her a new car maybe she won't be canceling anymore shows here.

If you ask me she pretty much made the show last night. That woman is so funny, she is my favorite female comedy person.

She was entertaining and humble. If that's possible.

She's also the host of the new season of "Comic View."
I look forward to tuning in to see her and what handbag she's rocking that day.

Does it ever bother you when she does a really foul-mouthed routine, then shout y'all out?

My Soror has a business...its called stand up-comedy. In her line of business, there are all types of routines that move audiences. She is paid for her work as an entertainer . Her particular routine is not PG. Is it my brand of humor? No. But do I respect her as an entertainer who has gained an enormous amount of respect for the thought provoking commentary that she weaves into her adult routine? Yes, absolutely.
Are you embarrassed by your Sorors who use foul-mouthed language just because they are foul-mouthed women and then in the next breath shout you out?
You see there is a difference .

Yes, I do get embarassed when a soror does such things. She is usually taken aside and given a sisterly talk, too.
I understand that she is an entertainer and gets paid for her humor. I enjoy some of her routines. (It's her politics I can't get with, but that's another story.) A group of us were discussing this once, because one of your sorors was talking about being a finer woman, while wearing letters and representing herself as a Zeta. And there's nothing wrong with that. I think we should all represent with class and be ladylike when repping our orgs. One of the guys asked her how was Sheryl Underwood representing finer womanhood, when she does a vulgar routine, then throws up your sign. I found the conversation interesting, but refrained from making too many comments. BTW, this was before I was a Delta.

I see. But again you missed my point. And as sister Greek it would best serve you to reserve comment further at this junction. Your question/comment does not appear to serve to gain a greater understanding of who Ms. Underwood is...but more for you to pass judgement on who you think she is and what you think she does not represent. It's pretty obvious, you don't know Ms. Underwood. Since you are not a Finer Woman of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. I truly don't understand why this would be of any concern to you in the first place. But I digress.
THIS thread is a POSITIVE SHOUT OUT to my Soror Sheryl Underwood...not one for you or anyone else for that matter, to personally question her representation of my Sorority's concept of Finer Womanhood.
If you are not here to say something positive and/or related to the topic of the thread...do the grown up thing...K.I.M. (keep it moving... for the less web savvy)
Thank you.

I am not questioning her representation of your sorority. I questioned how you felt about it. I am not passing judgment on her. If that's what you got out of it, then just wow.
As far as what would "best serve" me, I am free to ask what I wish. If you choose not to answer, then fine.
As mentioned before, I reserved my comments during my real life discussion. And I also reserved my comments here, because what she does has no reflection on me, other than her being a Black woman. THAT'S where her personal politics come into play, and if you'll re-read, I also reserved my comments on that, as well.
At any rate, I see that her conduct is a sore spot with you, and I will bow out gracefully.

First of all, I don't know why you here again on this topic. Separating business from the person was my initial point. I understand it went over your head. It happens. I have seen MY Soror Sheryl Underwood in both settings. It's not the same...she is not the same. I feel no need to defend her. SHE is a FINER WOMAN.
And certainly, you have to know that's definitely NOT for you to define. Your instincts were right the FIRST TIME in reserving your comments in real life...life OFF the internet...don't let internet courage "e-courage" continue to allow you to post statements you knew were WRONG to make in public the first time.
Be a good Greek and KEEP IT MOVING ... That is the graceful thing to do. You are not adding to the topic at hand.
Now, if anyone else would like to add to the topic which is a "Shout out to My Soror Sheryl Underwood" please free to continue posting.
Thank you!

Obviously she has not met Soror Underwood....Sheryl always states that what she does is her job. That is what everyone needs to remember.

I was on the topic again, because I felt like it.
I understand the seperation. It is she who muddles the seperation, when she throws up the sign and gives her shout-outs. I just thank God it's your sign and call that she is connecting to all that vulgarity and not mine. (Read her interview in The Diving Nine, and see what she wanted first. I'm just glad that my sorors weren't having it.)
E-courage does not play a part in my life, so try again.
*WOW* @ folks trying to take it there off of a question.

Actually I have met her a few times, hence my stating that I can't get with her politics.
