Advice needed from University of Southern California

I am planning on transferring to USC this fall and I would like to rush, but I am going to be a junior and I was wondering how tough it is for a junior to get into a sorority. I rushed as a sophomore at my current school, and I, like many other sophomores, got cut because many sororities preferred freshmen to join. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You may find doing a search to be helpful, as there have been many threads on this subject, including at USC specifically.

USC is near impossible to get into a sorority as a junior.

I disagree with this. As a recruitment advisor at USC I have seen many women successfully go through recruitment as juniors, and we generally have a junior quota.

Last year the breakdown was
Freshmen: 417
Sophomores: 254
Juniors: 78
Seniors: 4

Historically our match statistics at USC are pretty good.

My understanding is the same as any other school: do you want to be part of a sisterhood, or part of one particular sisterhood? AFAIK, only one sorority did not COB to total last year.

wow!! that is a lot of juniors! how big are the pledge classes? they must either have a ton of sororities or the pc's must be gigantic! how big is the junior quota?

bruinaphi can correct me if I am wrong, but i believe quota is in the mid to high 50s and they get 2 free juniors that do not count against quota.

Honestly tho I was at USC A LONG TIME AGO (late 80s, early 90s), juniors had a hard time, but transfers WERE and probably still ARE looked at more like sophomores in terms of rush.

Quota this year was 58 + 2 free juniors. Some groups took a lot more juniors, it really varied. I am not saying recruitment is easy for anyone, just that people aren't automatically dismissed for not being freshmen.

I think back in the day...it was harder for juniors to rush, because you are looking for memebers to stay the full four years. I go to CSU-Long beach...which is a great tranfer school, and I could tell you that it seems that not even half the girls that go though rush are freshmen. I know a lot of girls that re 2 and 3 years that go though rush and get the house that they wanted. People tend to think that transfer aren't going to be active for long...my friend was active for three years and was president her second year and complete helped the image of her organization

I think that Cal State and UC schools have always been fairly open to transfers and USC is more than one might expect. Just to give you an idea, even though quota was 58+2 there were quota additions and we had a PC of 69.
