this is a sweet story, with some really conflicting views at the end. i guess it is something any of us who will take care of our aging parents could deal with.

whats crazy is that my father works in a group home for mentally challenged individuals, and they are not allowed to keep them from having sex. even have kids! so if two older people wanna get it on, why not?

Awww, part of the article was really sweet. Bob's son is an asshole who's probably jealous that he's not getting any play.

When Dorothy's daughter was talking about how Dorothy would get frustrated that some days Bob would call and other days he wouldn't, it made me giggle a little bit. Some things never change!

Aww, what a sweet but sad story. Bob's son sounds like a selfish jerk, poor Dorothy (and Bob). That relationship was probably the best medicine either of them could ever get, and what a great way it would have been to live out their days.

It was "one-sided" because Bob's son refused to participate or share his "side". Seriously, if Bob is 95, conservatively, his son is probably early 60's and totally freaking out that dad was still enjoying a physical relationship at his *gasp* advanced age and mental condition.

Cute story, but I could have done with out some of the graphic references about them. I remember reading (hearing?) about a story in a retirement community in FL where there was a STD (I think it was AIDS) outbreak because this one man was sleeping around with a lot of the women.

There was alos a case here in Atlanta where a older woman killed her former lover in their retirement community because he started keeping time with someone else.

I bet these kind of stories are not as rare as we would like to believe they are.

I know that he wouldn't share his side, but I don't think he's wrong to not want to talk to a reporter about his father's health. I probably wouldn't want to share family health issues with the press either. I just don't think that they should have included things like "He probably did it to protect his inheritance!"

For all we know, Bob could have been very religious and against sex outside of marriage before the dementia set in.

Bob is like many people who think finding an old lady with her mouth on his father's dirty penis is gross.

Bob also could be like many people who think that people with dementia and Alzheimer's are not fully capable of giving consent (just like there are people who try to keep mentally retarded people from having sex).

I don't know what I would've done in Bob's situation. The old lady asked the reporter "who do you love," which is cute. I might've just let these old folk be sexually free and love each other until they passed on.
