A song for my sisters...
because I love you all so much and hope you are having a great weekend! I also just felt like serenading all you amazing ladies!
Theta lips are smiling,
Theta eyes smile, too,
Theta's love is sweetest,
Theta hearts are true.
Theta's kites went sailing,
Where the pansies grow,
Theta knows true friendship,
Theta, I love you.
Theta lips are smiling,
Theta eyes smile, too,
Theta's heart is beating,
beating just for you.
There's a Theta who will,
never love a soul but you,
There's a Theta who's whispering,
"Sweetheart, I love you."
Feel free to chime in!
Theta love and all of mine.

There's a kite called a Theta Kite
Made of golden light and shadows
Spun by the stars in my room last night
It's a kite made to catch a dream
Hold it tight until I wake
As if to tell me that dreaming's all right
[not really a serenade, but it's the only one I could think of besides the lullaby (Rock-a-bye). . .]

I LOVE "Rock-a-bye!" I can't wait to actually have a daughter so I can sing Theta songs to her all the time! I know my dog probably gets tired of hearing them. Haha.
Do those of you with kids sing to them constantly?

serenades
I don't know ANY serenades!! That wasn't popular in my chapter. In fact, I hadn't heard of candlepassing until my senior year! I was quite "greek ignorant!" I do know the "kite called a theta kite" and a few that we sang during recruitment, and I have seen others mentioned on the National Website

here's one?
Remember the black and gold dear,
remember the kite we fly.
Remember when you are old dear,
that Theta's with you, until you die.
Remember the twin stars shining,
throughout eternity.
And if you remember Theta,
she'll always remember you.
Remember the black and gold.

Obviously, one of my favorites. I have so many favorites. Haha. Have an amazing weekend ladies!
Oh, BTW, being "greek ignorant" isn't a problem. Some chapters do things that other chapters do not. It's all about a chapter's traditions and what certain members of that chapter started years ago. I have heard things that other chapters do that mine in particular didn't do. I wouldn't feel bad. You got the important stuff.

Rock-a-Bye
Here are the words. PM me if you want me to email you a scan of the sheet music -- I have an old (1978) song book which I inherited with some of my Theta volunteer stuff.
Rock-a-bye, rock-a-bye my baby
Dream sweet dreams, dreams that someday maybe
You will be a Theta too, who wears the black and gold.
Don't you cry, there is no reason.
Theta tears aren't the ones in season.
Kappas sigh and Pi Phis cry, 'cause they don't wear the kite.
Rock-a-bye, -bye, -bye.
Theta's kite flies high!
Rock-a-bye, rock-a-bye my baby
Dream sweet dreams, dreams that someday maybe
You will sign this when you're old
Making little rompers out of black and gold
[I've also heard: "Knittin' little booties out of black and gold"]

Since this bumped, I have a question. When we sing Remember, there is a verse we sing before this one but I can't remember ONE line of it lol. Here's what I know:
Remember the black, dear, remember the gold.
Remember the story that's always been told.
Remember the friendships so faithful and true,
remember that Theta loves no one but you.
Once you have found her, you'll find heaven there,
and for the Thetas, you can't help but care.
(something something something something)
Just always look for the kite and twin stars.
Remember the black and gold dear,
remember the kite we fly.
Remember when you are old dear,
that Theta's with you, until you die.
Remember the twin stars shining,
throughout eternity.
And if you remember Theta,
she'll always remember you.
Remember the black and gold. Anyone know that line?

Does anyone know where I can find the tune to Rock-a-Bye? I tried PMing Janerz222 but her message space was full. Thanks!

Hi CocoBean. So sorry, I haven't been on this site in several years!
I did just find sheet music for Rock-A-Bye in an old songbook. I also took a few things out of my pm box, so pm me to let me know how best to get a scan to you.
