Question If Sigma had a Mascot...

I am borrowing this idea from a thread I saw over in the Zeta Tau Alpha Forum & I thought it would apply to us. Since we don't have an official mascot what do you all think a good one would be? Do you not like having one and being able to run out and buy all the cute animals or things like the other groups?

Hopefully this will breathe some life back into this place! We need to keep Jocelyn on her toes

Oh, and I hope everyone is keeping cool out there!! Its way to hot out there!

I am kinda mixed on this one. I mean I think a mascot would be nice, but as it is if I see something with skull and crossbones on it I end up buying it (I have a scarf, hat, t-shirt, purse, and even a bandana for my dog). I am not sure if I my bank account could handle a mascot!

I do get kinda sick of seeing the generic teddy beas with letters on them when other sororities get cute turtles and such.

I guess a mascot would be nice. Maybe something with a nautical theme? Any ideas?

I can't think of a mascot that would go with either the skull & cross bones or the sailboat! Then again, I'm not a stuffed-animal, cuddly toy/doll kind of person!

I'm gonna go with the Care Bear! I collect them AND a Sigma created them.

I do have quite a few care bear things, but which one are we sticking with? I think both Share and Harmony bear are purple.

thread crash!

since your two symbols are skull and cross bones and a sail boat, sticking to the boating theme...maybe a pirate? Now that sounds very mannish, but how cute would it be if you had something as hot as Jack Sparrow/Johnny Depp for a mascot?

LOL OKAY! Ending of dream/joke!

BabyPink - I was thinking the same thing, lol. Boats + Skull and crossed bones = Pirates! But how would you make a cute pirate mascot (save for Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom...).

I kind of like not having a mascot - I see sailboats and violets and skulls and go nuts as it is, I think I'd end up buying a lot more stuff if there was a mascot. That said, I think some sort of sea creature would be appropriate, but I don't know what. Something not as stereotypical as a dolphin or turtle.

We had family mascots in our chapter, dolphins, frogs, dinosaurs, and butterflies. I was a butterfly, it was good fun - I bought loads of butterfly stuff for my little sis (and got loads from my big sis when I first joined, along with other objects to throw me off the track, tehe).

Cheers,
Laura

My chapter's local mascot is the rubber ducky, and it *sort* of fits with the water theme of saiboats. It gives us something to collect for ourselves and something to give as gifts to our Pearl Pals or Littles!

When I was in college we had a bunny as our local mascot, it was because we were trying to grow the chapter and we wanted to mutiply like bunnies! Sadly this didn't seem to work because 4 years after I graduated the chapter chose to serender their charter to nationals.

I always found it easy to find stuff with sailboats all over. Meijer and Walmart were great in the summer for stuff with a nautical theme and great in the fall for stuff with Skull and bones on em!

At alpha chapter, our local symbol is the butterfly. We use it to represent eternal friendship.

I know, but I can never find that one anymore. I have been on the lookout for one for about 7 years now and can only find the share bear. Anyone else had any luck finding the Harmony Bear recently?

Go to www.carltoncards.com. They usually have the Harmony Bear sold by its self, but right now they have it paired with Champ. You can get both bears for $6.49.
