You do know that this badge belongs to Phi Mu and you have no right to sell it? Especially on a message board that is not intended to be used to sell things.

You can send it back to Phi Mu headquarters and they will distribute it to someone who would want it. Selling it, whether on E-bay or here on this forum, is inappropriate.

Before you are quick to judge, it is my pin and because it is so nice I thought someone who is really into Phi Mu might want it. It unfortunately does not have the sentimental value for me that it might have with others, but I was hoping it could become special to someone.

I am not looking to make a profit here, just to recycle something that might make someone happy. I didnt know I could turn it in to headquarters. Thank you for that information.

Great, if it is yours, then you should know that the badge does not belong to members but to the Fraternity.

Wellll... if she bought it and it was not one that comes with initiation, it does belong to her. But yes technically it still belongs to the fraternity.

wow.

I hope that's not true.

Even if it isn't, saying something like that is f'ed up enough.

OH HELL NO!

Someone needs a good beatdown for this one!

I would love to see how many nasty emails the seller got!

Pardon me while I see if this has been addressed on the private side of Phi Mu's website.

and if it hasn't, I'm sayin' sumpthin.......

Geez, peddling pins is one thing but I doubt a past prez w/ all of her faculties would tolerate this for a New York minute.

I would rather a Phi Mu herself collect these pins like these regardless of the description and send them to EO or contact EO about it being for sale. Some people will buy sorority pins such as these and melt them down for the jewels. I have my Phi Mu pin as well as my mother's Phi Mu pin and I would hate for them to fall in the wrong hands like this one.

Glad to know that it will be back in the hands of Phi Mu...if it is indeed a former president's pin. I hope they aren't pulling on heart strings just to sell an item on an auction website.

You are right. I know it is a Phi Mu pin. What I'm saying is that I hope that they are not just saying that it is an ex-president's pin just so that the price will go higher and they will make more money. Then they will be lying. The whole thing isn't right. The seller should be ashamed of themselves. Wouldn't you rather EO have the pin back instead of someone else buying it and melting it down for gold. I know this happens. I've been told by jewelers that people will bring sorority/fraternity pins in from all types of organizations that they buy just for the gold. Tons of pins are out there and it would be almost impossible to keep track. All said and done a Phi Mu pin should stay in the hands of a Phi Mu that appreciates what it is or the Executive Office.
