Yeah, you’re right. I agree. That was more domestic tho. That’s the 10% we should be worried about. The other 90 is what he’s threatening to do internationally. He won’t be able to do any of that. This is the same kind of thing he was talking when he said he was going to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it. It never happened.

I am getting my finances in order because I guarantee he will topple the economy. I am prepared but many are not. I hope those that voted for him get everything they have coming to them. Unfortunately, many that didn’t vote for this POS will suffer as well.
True, but he’s still limited.

With the exception of Barack Obama, I’m convinced a president can do whatever he wants to. Trump is an example of that, and so is Clinton. Any dude outside of the presidency wouldn’t be able to get a blowjob on the job and keep his job.

Xant, what do you mean when you say magnetize? So, the weapons are not attached to the figures themselves? You can pick the weapon? Well, that’s pretty cool. I like that.
Yeah, the game can get stale if the rules stay stagnant for too long. The current system is an Edition (whole rule system) every 3-4 years, and rules tweaks every 3-6 months (army rules, game objective changes). Most, if not every army gets a rulebook of their own called a Codex, which can also drastically change how an army plays on the table.

It is a decent cognitive load, but once you learn up to a certain level it transfers pretty easily and quickly.

Using magnets is an easy way to preserve weapon options, as the connection points would be countersunk magnets instead of the usual plastic or super glue. Many people also put magnets under the bases of their models to use on a metal rack to secure the models for transport in a travel case.

Dude, they’d make up a new policy to get Obama out. No doubt.

The problem is people put too much weight on titles and accomplishments, leaving the most important parts out. That’s how we get clowns leading our country. When I was in undergrad, I was my fraternity’s historian. I got voted in every year. Our creed is “Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor.”

That’s one reason I pledged Kappa, because of that motto. I’m all about achieving, being successful, and not stopping there. But the key word brothers miss is “Every” which means that Achievement is not solely a measure of skill or success, but also a reflection of one’s character, values, and moral integrity, which collectively define the foundation upon which lasting accomplishments are built. That applies to any title, including the highest and most powerful position in the world — POTUS. When that last part is left out, which most of the time it is, you then get clowns leading the country.

Now, I’m getting some clarification. Thanks for clearing that up. If you’d generally play with one specific army, you’d have to not only keep up with those rules, but you’d have to keep up with the others, too. Do they have a ref or someone there that keeps people from cheating or trying to illegally get around the rules?

I had no idea it was that detailed and realistic all the way down to the actual weapons they’re holding. That’s gotta be super cool. About 20 years ago, I came very close to collecting the Imperial Guard. One of my classmates from school back then used Space Marines, which almost got me into it.

This is kind of an off the wall question. Probably one you’d think is a dumb question, but I’m sure they’re all the same scale. They look 1:35, to me. Could you add your own weapons from a totally different model, the same scale? For example, the Imperial Guard resembles a WWII German army, could you bring in models representing tanks or other weapons that aren’t Warhammer?

I don’t know what would happen to Obama, but I do know when he was elected that they were hoping he’d do something that black men are generally blamed for or accused of doing. If Obama was caught getting lip service in the Oval Office or it came out that he did in the same way Clinton did, every black man in America would be guilty, like we were all lined up outside waiting for our turn.

So organized events like tournaments will have volunteer judges/referees. I've been a referee a couple of times, and it was pretty rewarding. Usually any rules dispute can be solved by reading the rule aloud, and consulting any recent FAQs/erratas for clarification. Sometimes the wording is so vague that it could go in either player's favor, so a judge's role in that is just to make a decision so the game can continue. For a friendly game the staff of the store you are playing at would be usually able to make an impartial ruling, as long as they are knowledgeable about the game themselves.

Well, seeing as it's an epic dark sci-fi/fantasy, "realism" is kind of a strong word lol. But it's more for looks than anything. If a squad of 20 Guardsmen have 18 Lasguns (think more powerful blasters from Star Wars), one Plasma Gun and one Flamer, I would assume the models can be built to reflect that. When they aren't modeled accurately to what the army list says it is(or should be) is when arguments and shady tactics are used.

Yes, as long as the weapons or other bits are in the same or similar scale and look either reasonably like the original weapon (or distinct for what it should be), that's not an issue. While every model has an "official" paint scheme and way to build it, many people use resin 3D printers to customize their minis to fit a theme, or make the posing more dynamic etc.

Something like that being this conversion in the high fantasy version of Warhammer, Age of Sigmar

FACTS! minus the Krappa part Lol. I feel you, PB. Although I can’t say I got the last part completely down, you’re still 100% right.

LMAO @ “lip service”. I hollered when I read this earlier today. You nailed it! That’s exactly what this country wanted to see Obama do and exactly how every black dude would be looked at. Preach!

Clinton always said he never cheated on Hillary because he never loved or was in love with the women he slept with. But he’s in love with Hillary.

When I was in grad school at Arkansas, the student senate kept announcing Bill Clinton was boinking law students left and right for grades while he was on the faculty. I don't think anything happened but I passed him in the halls a lot and stayed out of his way. Apparently, he was untouchable.

I had to park next to Hillary every morning. It was awful.

Of course he’s going to say that to anyone who inquires about his infidelity. But in his own reality, he doesn’t believe it. Bill knows that rationale is as hollow as it is self-serving. Love (if it’s genuine), isn’t only about sentiment, it’s about respect, loyalty, and a commitment to the partnership. By violating those principles, he undermined the very foundation of what he claimed to value. The notion that infidelity is excusable because it lacked emotional attachment reflects a failure of the moral conduct I mentioned earlier in my above post. It also minimizes both the relationships he pursued for sex, and the one he vowed to honor with his wife. To sit up there and betray her like that, and then turn around and return to their bed as though love remains intact is not only hypocritical, but profoundly trifling and disrespectful.

IMO, true love doesn’t coexist with that kind of disregard. In my eyes, Bill Clinton is equally as trifling as Donald Trump is.

If Hillary Clinton was elected president and she was getting oral service from a male intern in the Oval Office, trust me, it would not be ignored, forgotten about, or allowed to pass, like it was with Bill. That situation would explode faster than microwaving a whole egg.

Xant, I’m about to reply to your post separately so you don’t have to keep deleting other conversations.

😂 well yeah, I meant “realistic” as in if it were real life, meaning all the weapons — all the way down to knives and guns being accounted for. I should have clarified that better.

Now, that’s sick that you can use outside weapons like tanks that aren’t Warhammer. How about aircraft?

I’m thinking someone would have to get mad at some point if they felt their opponent violated the rule book, but it got overturned, somehow. To get picked or allowed to be an official means you know your stuff.

If I had known all this that you can add, I’d have probably gone ahead and gotten into the Imperial Guard 20-years ago. They’re by far the coolest army of Warhammer, although the others are cool, too.

Is it similar to chess where you’re required to remove your characters off the board if killed?

carnation, you know what I thought when I first saw your post, before I started reading it? I at first saw Bill Clinton and you being in grad school at Arkansas and said “Damn, Bill tried to hit on carnation, too?” LOL!

Damn shame he’s been cheating on his wife that long. She puts up with it though.

I agree, PB. I disagree about the comparison with Trump though. Trump raped a chick. That’s way on a different level from cheating.

You’re a good dude, PB. Tell wifey she’s got a good one. The fact that you’ve never cheated in your life, even in your younger college years blows my mind. I commend you for that, and I’m sure you’re a good role model to your kids. I’ll bet if wifey walked in on you cheating though, she’d be devastated. She’d be thinking if he cheats they all do LOL.

Quoting myself! I don't know what I intended to post but I must have started a sentence and changed it and left the first part, because I certainly do think that something happened--a lot.

Well, yeah, rape and infidelity differ in severity, but both reveal a lack of morality, respect, and empathy, and they’re both rooted in selfishness and a disregard for others.

Thanks for the kudos, Phroze. I’m sitting here watching a movie with her now. I showed her your post and she said she agrees and that she’s very lucky and happy, but if she even suspects I’m even thinking about cheating on her, I’d end up in a new fraternity called Delta No Mo’, hanging out with co-founder John Bobbitt, while planning pledge week, ice-pack, relay race pledge activities. 😂

Yeah, there are models of aircraft available, and you can proxy other models for them, but honestly aircraft are usually in a very weird spot. Either their rules have them as hilariously unfair, or completely pointless, and no in-between.

When a model is destroyed, it is removed from the table. The attrition of forces is a cornerstone of tactics, especially for the Guard as they try to be as efficient in removing as many models as possible while losing as few as possible.

To help judge an event, at the very least a solid base understanding of the rules and game mechanics will take you a long way. A lot of the calls judges get are IT help desk level of issues. Instead of "Is it turned on and plugged in?" it's "Read me your rule out loud" which usually solves a rules question.

There's no time like the present to start with 40K though! Even if you only build and paint the models, it's a wonderfully theraputic time.

If you are interested in gameplay with the Guard, I would recommend the 40k in 40 Minutes videos from Play on Tabletop. Very high production values and much more of a bite-sized look at the game. Most games at a tournament can take up to 2:30 hours, and casual games can take much longer assuming you're chatting a lot, having a beer and not worrying about the time.

WIFLSRN: I’m reading that Michelle Obama didn’t show up to President Carter’s funeral because she didn’t want to sit next to Donald Trump.

I don’t blame her. I mean, some things are just too undignified, even for a funeral.
