Community service alert!

I was walking intro Target very early this morning when I saw a group of people gathered by the entrance. I noticed two fire department personnel and a bunch of people in D9 sweaters and so I stopped for a second to try and figure out what was going on. (I'm a firefighter myself and one of my coworkers is a Kappa Alpha Psi.)

One woman noticed me looking and she came over to introduce herself and enthusiastically tell me about their service project. This San Diego area group of D9 members teamed up with the SDFD Black Firefighters association to sponsor about 10 families for Christmas. They were coming in to purchase the gifts on the families' wish lists and they will be going around soon to surprise each of the families.

I was really blessed to be able to meet this group this morning and they brightened my day with some Christmas cheer.

Your post is very cool, navane

Usually at this time of year, I see many greek letters being worn on clothing by local collegians studying for finals at the library. This year, I'm only seeing high school students studying at the library, and they are wearing shirts with logos for the colleges they want to attend...TCU, Indiana, Michigan State, Iowa, The Chicago Bears....wait a minute, that last student must be wanting to attend The School Of Hard Knocks

I was watching an old episode of "American Housewife". The main character, Katie, was wearing an Alpha Tau Omega cap. She was talking about going to fraternity parties when she was in college.

What a wonderful project for the the area D9 members sponsor. Glad that you had the opportunity to meet them.

Old-fashioned design (1950's or 60's) of a Delta Gamma crest within a seal, on a sweatshirt, all in muted colors on a woman in our local tea house. Especially fond of the older-type design.

Found a woman wearing a Gamma Phi Beta sweatshirt in Ikebukuro Station in Tokyo.

Based on her outfit/style/mannerisms she didn't look like a tourist/expat so I was quite surprised, but didn't have an opportunity to ask her about it.

That's awesome! It's cool how you noticed the Delta Gamma design too, those old-school crests have a certain charm. It's nice when something familiar pops up in unexpected places, like the Gamma Phi Beta sweatshirt in Tokyo.

In the space of one hour of busy shopping, observed:

Young lady wearing soft blue, long-sleeve overshirt that said 'Tri Delta' in soft white on the front;

Car with Iowa license plates and both Sigma Kappa and Phi Sigma Sigma stylized greek letters in rear window, which also sported an IOWA STATE university sticker. Hope they enjoyed the victory by their football team in the PopTarts Bowl game yesterday!

I went for a massage today. The other lady in the waiting room was a Delta Sigma Theta. She was wearing a black jacket, crimson letters, cream background.

Ooh now that would be a sweatshirt I'd love to own!!
My mom had a navy blue short sleeved sweatshirt with the DG crest in white. Unfortunately she used it as a painting/house work top, so I never had the chance to wear it.
