Colorado Kappa Sigma 6 hospitalized

Boulder police are investigating after six college students overdosed Saturday night, a case potentially linked to a tainted batch of cocaine and a botched fraternity pledging, officials said.
Between 10 and 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Boulder officers responded to the Kappa Sigma fraternity house at 1100 Pennsylvania Ave. for reports of multiple overdoses, the police department said Sunday.
At least six men were taken to the hospital or treated on scene by paramedics, police said. All six are expected to survive.

Update: It was excessive alcohol, not drugs.

Happy to hear everyone is expected to recover, but this just goes to show how fast things can get out of hand with Greek life. Preventing these situations starts with ending these types of traditions, like hazing, and putting an end to pressure to overconsume.

You joined to say that?

This is a huge reporting fail. They published a story about overdoses from a bad batch of cocaine.. which is holy isht bad.

And it turns out some folks apparently simply overimbed. I'm not sure how anyone confuses being drunk with a bad batch of cocaine.

I agree with you that it's a huge reporting fail. Double shame on the news source for still having the original article up without a disclaimer at the top.

But I disagree about what's holy isht bad, unless we are talking about the risk of criminal prosecution. From a public health perspective, though, alcohol abuse sends a lot more kids at Boulder to the hospital and morgue than bad cocaine. "Simply overimbibed" IMHO minimizes the life and death risk that these incidents pose.
