Anyone helping with recruitment this fall?

Hi,

I am new to this site but have enjoyed it and learned so much! Wondering if any of the AOII's on here are going to be helping out this fall? I will be helping Nu Beta, not sure what I will be doing, yet.

I'm helping with Theta Beta at Towson University. I bet they'll need your help at Nu Beta since they have such a high stress recruitment process! Have fun!

Do you know what you are doiing? Last year I worked with member's parents, setting up the rooms for parties, between parties. It was fast paced! We had 15 minutes to clear the old tables and set up new ones, but it was a lot of fun and I learned to use the commercial dish washer in the kitchen!!!

I'll be counting votes. Theta Beta's recruitment is very low key. There are no skits and minimal decorations. No parent has ever shown up and very few alumnae attend either. Basically, we run any needed errands and oversee membership selection processes. Last year was a real eye opener for me since my collegiate chapter is in Louisiana where we sang and did skits and dressed up. I actually like the low key version much much much better. I always thought we looked so cheesy!!

Forgive my ignorance, as last year was the first year I have been active since I was in college. Do you rush for a week, or no? If you don't have the skits, etc., do you use the time to talk with pnm's? That sounds good. I came from a small campus, UTMartin, so when I saw rush at Ole Miss, I was blown away. I have to say, those girls were great. Their skits could have been on 'off' Broadway, lol.

The first day is like a little cocktail party with all the girls dressed in little red dresses. They talk the entire time and show off some AOII memorabilia. The second day is "theme day" so they decorate and dress according to a theme. Last year was a nautical theme (there is no DG on campus to confuse the rushees). They talk for half the party then show a video. The third day is philanthropy day...they talk during the whole party while doing a project. Then the last day is prefs. Prefs are usually the weekend after the first set of parties. When I was a collegiate, we did recruitment the week before the fall semester started. We didn't talk nearly as much to the girls, but we were voiceless from chanting and singing by the end of the week!

I'll be helping with my chapter's Community Involvement Night (which is like a combination of what has been philanthropy and skit night in the past) this year! I'm really excited but also a bit nervous!

I want to visit one of my chapters before their formal recruitment, but don't know if that will work out or not yet. Our local collegiate chapter has formal in January.

I'll be helping during move-in and work week (at the University of Arkansas) - sprucing up the house for recruitment. If I am able to help with recruitment it wouldn't be until 3rd round, since both nights of round 2 are on weeknights and it's too far to drive.

I will be helping with the new colony at ASU.
Different experience than with an established chapter, so I am looking forward to it.
