Question Alpha Phi @ Texas Tech University

I will be participating in rush for fall 2002, I want to have alumnae recommendation(s) to put in my packet. How would I go about contacting someone in my area to write one? Also on there web page (www.c1hs90.com/techaphi/home.html) it says "Gamma Iota Chapter at Texas Tech University" how is that different from Alpha Phi ?

Hi there Lea!

I just happen to be the webmaster of the Texas Tech Alpha Phi site! Here's the deal. ALPHA PHI is the name of the sorority (technically, we are a "women's fraternity," because at the time Alpha Phi--and many other sororities--were founded, the term "sorority" had not been coined).

So, Alpha Phi is the group. Ours is one of many chapters of Alpha Phi at universities across the United States and Canada. Each Alpha Phi chapter has a name. Our chapter is known as the "Gamma Iota" chapter. Thus, we are, as it says on the website: the Gamma Iota chapter of Alpha Phi at Texas Tech University. Make sense?

I am working on a special recruitment section for our website as we speak. Please check our site frequently for updates and information.

If you have any further questions, just ask! Good luck!

Jen

Lea,

A good place to start for recommendations is your local Panhellenic. For example, if you are from Lubbock, you would contact the Lubbock Area Panhellenic Association. Where are you from? I might be able to help.

I see you're from Austin. I found the info for the local Austin Panhellenic rep. on the University of Texas site. See:

Thanks a bunch, Jen ! I have alot of work ahead of me as far as contacting an alumnae member from each of the 13 sororities AND meeting with them long enough to get a recommendation. Anyways . . . Thanks, again. -Lea

Best of Luck!

Lea,

Getting prepared for recruitment can be stressful, but I think you'll find it will be worth the effort. Greek life has given me more than I ever thought possible.

Good luck to you as you seek your Greek home.

Jen
