Tie Social Ideas

My fraternity is throwing a tie social with a sorority. I was just wanting to get ideas, feedback, and thoughts on this social idea. Has anyone ever had one of these and how did it go? Ourselves and the sorority that we are pairing with, haven't had a lot of relations in the past and we want to use this as a meet and greet, more or less.

Thanks

I'll bet a nickel that if I ask "what is a tie social," the OP will come back and let me know that they "FOUND THE BEST SITE!".

PS - if you are really in college, it makes me weep to read sentences like this:

"Ourselves and the sorority that we are pairing with, haven't had a lot of relations in the past and we want to use this as a meet and greet, more or less."

I don't know how you could spam for a tie social.

If you want everyone to meet everyone, try not just giving each girl a tie, but give each guy an earring or something as well that they have to find the owner. This way groups of people will get talking together instead of everyone just pairing off. (Be sure that the girls know to use cheap earrings.)

Perhaps, but if you really want to know...

The way I've heard tie socials functioning is that each girl grabs a tie from a bag on her way in and tries to find the guy to whom the tie belongs. In some variations they tie themselves together with it and spend the rest of the mixer tied together.

The UN and odd wording just made me wonder. Just scarred from too many spam I guess.
