Movies you'd like to see remade and books you'd like to see as a movie

ITT we discuss movies from the past you'd like to see remade. And also books you've read that you would like to see as a movie.

I would like to see a remake of "Jaws". I saw the original movie on DVD, and for the time period, it was pretty good. However, I would love to see it redone with today's technology.

Books: There are quite a few Stephen King and Dean Koontz books I would love to see done as a movie. I read a book called "The Store" that I think was written by Dean Koontz, I think it would be awesome as a movie. There was also a short story in one of Stephen King's books called "Uncle Ottio's Truck" that I think would be really creepy as a movie. It was in one of his novels of short stories. "Skeleton Crew".

I would like to see movies about how some of my favorite book writers got started and the obstacles they had to overcome to get where they are now.

Alex Cross was turned into a movie in 2012, but it did poorly: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Cross_(film)

Somewhat shameless plug, but Rashid's books should seriously be movies. I've already casted them in my head.

I also liked The Night Circus by Emma Morgenstern, about an two young magicians who compete (and fall in love) in an adult-themed circus that attracts a cult-like following. I don't know why it's considered a romance novel as it definitely reads more like fantasy.

Another is This is Where I Leave You bu Johnathan Tropper - so glad it's coming out as a movie soon. one of my favorite short stories, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, came out last year but I've yet to see it. Another one, The Yellow Wallpaper, was a movie in 1989 but I'm not as pressed to go dig it up.

I'd love to see Guillermo del Toro's book "The Strain" made into a movie...but instead it's getting a run on FX as a TV series, premiering July 13th.

This is like when Scrabble became Words With Friends, and then became a board game.

Love to see Gun Slingers series, but I do think it'll be better as a HBO series.

I second Wicked, but the book version, not the musical version.

I want to see the rest of the Beautiful Creatures and Mortal Instruments series made into movies. But then again, pretty much every movie I like is a "1 star" movie per the critics.

Having watched the video of the bear in the hammock, A Walk in the Woods came to mind. Apparently it is being filmed now.

Please, no. 'Jaws' is perfect just as it is. CGI would probably ruin the whole thing. It's like when they tried to make additional 'Jurassic Park' movies. Just terrible.

They have made numerous James Patterson books into movies, and all of them have been terrible. Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross? Why? Such a horrible choice, and poorly scripted. And don't even get me started on the Women's Murder Club tv show, and '1st to Die' as a tv movie. Awful.

Karen Chance has some awesome books and short stories that are all set in the same world, but involve different characters. I thought the short stories would be the best to make into a TV show.

.
I think you and CG are talking apples and oranges. You're talking duplicates and sequels. Based on the way I read her post, I think she's taking remakes. Ex: original Django Unchained vs the remake of Django Unchained.
