Lil Kim serving time in Illadelph
Rapper ''Lil' Kim'' to Serve Prison Sentence in Philadelphia
by KYW's John Ostapkovich
Rapper Lil' Kim is coming to Philadelphia -- but not by choice. She's beginning a federal prison term here.
Lil' Kim (real name Kimberly Jones) is to do a year and a day for perjury and conspiracy, trying to protect friends involved in a 2001 gun battle.
She'll do her time in the federal lockup at 7th and Arch Streets, a building that usually houses those awaiting trial and some with very short sentences.
It is no country club, but a drab, almost colorless lockup where inmates spend much of their time marking time.
Lil' Kim, knowing this day was coming, told "Newsweek" that she became a workaholic zombie since sentencing in July, to get out a new single and a new album -- with a release date next week. In it, she slams some of the people who testified against her.
