Yeah, the pledge class name was 10-spot, but one girl chose not to show up for initiation. She was graduating, too, so I'm not sure what the trouble was...
Apparently this happened a few years ago--they named a pledge class 7-Alarm Fire, but only six ended up getting initiated.
But oh well--we still initiated nine wonderful girls.

Hm, with everything else going on, I managed to miss that particular bit of drama ... like there wasn't enough else. (Road trip to Auburn, anyone? How does this ritual go again? ... )
Craziness. The 10 Spot girls all seem really cool, tho' - I hope I'll get to know them at least a little bit.

We have Greek pledge class names, but we don't use them. I didn't even know my pledge class was Alpha Lambda until a year after I was initiated.
I keep telling our Membership Directors that it'd be a cool idea to call the classes by their Greek names until we name them at Rose Night, but my idea never caught on.
But basically, how we do it is we name each pledge class by the number of girls they have, and then the pledge names go in a theme with that. For example, my (and Ren's) pledge class was Nine Ladies Dancing; my pledge name was The Hustle (and yours was Fandango, right Ren?).

I think it's neat that Nu does have line names and numbers. It helps remember who was on which line, info, etc. I know some of it comes the influcence of the NPHC, which is big in Atlanta.
I think Chi still does greek letters. It's been five years since I graduated and as you can tell from my siggy, I was in the second pledge class.

Yep, I'm "The Fandango", which is apparently a temperamental Spanish dance. Perhaps one day I'll learn how to dance it. (First I really need to work more on this stepping thing ... )
I had no idea we were Alpha Lambda - no one ever told me that (including you, Ms. MaryAmanda)! But yeah, I definitely like the way we do it with our pledge class names. (I may not have voted for 10 Spot, but it turned out really cute - I do hope that we get another ten-person pledge class who can be D*******e tho'; I am still rather attached to that idea.)
