Forward From Lyrecrest:
ALUMNI WORK WEEKEND
Greetings from Lyrecrest!
On February 18th, 19th, & 20th, the second "Lost Alumni Work
Weekend" will take place at the National Headquarters. Brothers
from around the country will come to assist in entering alumni
information into our database.
As of November of 2004, there were about 35,000 brothers who were
not entered into the database. Because of unknown errors in the
data transfers when we acquired the database into our own server, we
were given a book of names that did not transfer. These brothers
need to be added to our database so that we may begin to move
forward with a number of alumni initiatives being laid before us.
It is time that we tackle this issue and bring these brothers back
to the Fraternity.
In November of 2004 over 3,000 names were entered into the database
through the help of nine volunteers. With 10% of the list
completed, we are hoping to get an even larger amount entered in
February. The ultimate goal is to have all names entered into the
database by the National Convention in the summer of 2006.
The National Headquarters has nine computers that can be utilized
for database access. We are asking brothers who have a laptop
computer with a network card (wireless or not) to bring it with
them. If you need to plug in, please bring your own network cord.
This will allow us a greater number of people who can help. If we
are to put a serious dent in this list, we will need all the
equipment and hands that we can get.
The schedule will include a Friday evening training session on how
to use the database, and database entry on Saturday and Sunday.
Friday and Saturday evenings will be open for socializing and
activities. Meals will be provided by the Fraternity: three meals
on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday.
We can handle 22 brothers comfortably in the cottage. There is also
space at my house (no beds), if needed. The times listed are
tentative and are not binding. Late arrivals and early departures
are welcome to help and schedules can be adjusted accordingly.
If you can help out, please send an e-mail with your name, contact
information, and if you have a laptop that you can bring for your
use (only you will use your laptop, unless you bring more than
one). I encourage you to contact alumni brothers to ask for their
assistance in this task. Once the schedule is finalized, it will be
sent to you as we approach the weekend. If you have any further
questions about the weekend, please forward them to me. I can be
reached by phone at (800) 473-2649 x25 or by e-mail at
