My daughter...Greek Goddess 2008!!!

Last night my daughter was crowned Greek Goddess 2008 at her university!

We attended and were SO proud of her! (I'm actually amazed that she agreed to do it.) Contestants had to perform a talent where they wore whatever they chose, answer the question "What Greek Life Means to Me," wearing their jerseys, and then wear a toga while they answered a question drawn randomly from a bowl, as well as talk about why they chose to make their particular toga. My daughter's toga (made by herself and several sisters) was of purple material (Panhellenic's color), had all the sororities letters on it in sequins, and paw prints up the back (for the school's mascot). She wore a wreath on her head that was made up of the flower of each sorority. She won Best Toga for the night, as well! She really did look beautiful, the purple material was a pretty complement with her very dark hair.

The Greek community votes for Greek Goddess during Greek week, and those votes are part of the judges' final tally. She was informed that she also won the Greek community vote.

Her chapter now holds the Greek Goddess title for the 4th year in a row-and last year's winner was her Big Sister! Her chapter also won overall Greek Week for the 2nd year in a row. Good news, all around!

I posted this in the Alpha Xi Delta forum, but thought I'd do so here as well.
Just thought I'd add to this thread that my daughter is Assistant Recruitment Advisor this year. Her main duty is being in charge of the Rho Gams for Fall Recruitment 2008. For their required workshop during the summer, she is bringing them all here to our house! She called us in early April and said she simply could not find a cabin, etc, willing to allow her to reserve it for one night only, instead of for the whole weekend, and she needed a meeting room as well. We told her having it here would be fine. Last year she had her sorority's recruitment workshop here, and I know there are less Rho Gams that Alpha Xis, so it should be a little roomier for everyone. The school's Greek advisor will also come. Since she is saving Panhellenic some lodging money from their budget, I suggested she see if some of that money could go towards having the girls' evening meal catered by a restaurant here at the house. Anway, she is super excited about the Rho Gams that she and the other Panhellenic officers have chosen, and she has done a great job of keeping them organized, informed, and motivated. Her school will break ground on Greek houses in 2009.
