Last night my daughter was crowned Greek Goddess 2008 at her university!
We attended and were SO proud of her! (I'm actually amazed that she agreed to do it.) Contestants had to perform a talent where they wore whatever they chose, answer the question "What Greek Life Means to Me," wearing their jerseys, and then wear a toga while they answered a question drawn randomly from a bowl, as well as talk about why they chose to make their particular toga. My daughter's toga (made by herself and several sisters) was of purple material (Panhellenic's color), had all the sororities letters on it in sequins, and paw prints up the back (for the school's mascot). She wore a wreath on her head that was made up of the flower of each sorority. She won Best Toga for the night, as well! She really did look beautiful, the purple material was a pretty complement with her very dark hair.
The Greek community votes for Greek Goddess during Greek week, and those votes are part of the judges' final tally. She was informed that she also won the Greek community vote.
Her chapter now holds the Greek Goddess title for the 4th year in a row-and last year's winner was her Big Sister! Her chapter also won overall Greek Week for the 2nd year in a row. Good news, all around!
