COR Party Ideas
Aside from the usual game night, philanthropy night, and bbqs, any one have some cool ideas for COR events? We're looking to have a few in January and again in February (we're around 15 from total) and it would be awesome to do something fresh and new.
Also, some suggestions for advertising the event? I don't want us to look desperate, but at the same time, I want girls to be aware we're having events (we're really moving and shaking this year).
Thanks ladies!

Do you have a Ronald McDonald House nearby? I ask because you could have the PNM's either A) make something for the house (like cookies or something) or B) you could take the PNM's over to the house. I mean it is such a huge part of ADPi and they should be fully aware of what our philanthropy is.
Just a random idea I just now thought of you could do a game show theme night. Have the PNM's paired up with some actives in teams. You could do Jeopardy or some other game. The questions could be about your school, the world, movies, things like that. It give the actives a chance to converse with the PNM's, plus they are doing something fun.
Good Luck
Brianna

I was just going over this with someone else so its still fresh in my mind:
* ice skating with PNM with hot chocolate at the house afterwards
* team bowling, have PNM's team up with sisters so they get to know each other better
*theres always the Eta Beta favorite: movie/craft night
* if you decide to do one before valentines day you could make valentines for the kids at RMH, or like Brianna said any type of craft. We bought the plastic bulb ornaments and decorated them and sent them to RMH last year for recruitment.
Also check Pride Online, I'm fairly certain this has been discussed there as well and there might be some more ideas.
As far as advertising, personal invitations have always worked best in my chapter. Panhel might have a list of all the women who went through formal recruitment but didnt match and/or dropped out and then you can add onto that list by asking sisters if they have any friends, classmates, lab partners that they would like to invite. Then with the help of your PR chair and PR team (if you have one), find box numbers or addresses for these girls and send them their invitations through school mail. You can even hand delivery them to the girls that way if they have any questions they can ask you right then.
Good luck! PM me if you ever need any help.

hey i'm cross posting some of this in the philanthropy thread, sorry!
speaking of valentines day here's a fun thing to do, decorate heart shaped cookies with icing for rmh or a local charity. it was a cor event when i was a freshman and i remember talking with my future diamond sister for about an hour in the kitchen while we iced... then we watched the wedding singer afterwards. much fun and a good way to utilize the valentines day spirit
also, an idea i randomly had but the chapter didn't use in regard to advertising. why don't you set up a table in the union or post office or wherever there's alot of traffic and take sign ups for a philanthropy activity the next week. i think the activity i was pushing was potting violets and/or other plants to take to the local hospital. this will get alot of pr and attract women that might not usually be interested, and it's an awesome activity that is guaranteed to make people feel good if you can go deliver the plants to patients. look into donations from a local nursery since it's for non-profit use if you don't have the budget for supplies, and make sure their name gets used too. (make sure whomever asks for the donation is Good at that type of thing).
p.s. nooch i love you & miss you.

My chapter had fun this year doing a week of stress busters mid-semester and invited pm's to all of them...Each pride put on a different stress buster each night...
Night 1: Making stress balls out of balloons and flower...works really well but makes a mess...but it is a great way to joke around
Night 2: Decorating cookies...
Night 3: Yoga
Night 4: making Ice Cream sundays
Night 5: Movie night in the chapter room...
Overall it made for a great way for prides to help run events, and a nice break from all the mid-semester craziness...
