Big Sis Memories
Hey Ladies,
I was just wondering what are some of the thing that your your Big sister did for you that you will always remember? Or why did you choose her as your Big?

I chose her because she was smart and fun and beautiful (not that the beauty matters much, but she is truly pretty), and because we clicked from the moment we met at recruitment! She still is all those things, and now our children play together and click just as well.
There are many nice things she's done for me over the years, but I particularly remember one night during my junior year when I went over to my boyfriend's house and he broke up with me. I called her sobbing to tell her I was going to be late for some meeting we had, and she pretty much knew what had happened. (This was before cell phones, so I was calling her from his phone with him sitting right there... no opportunity for giving her the blow-by-blow during the drive home.) Anyway, when I arrived later that night at the room I shared with her in the AXiD house, still sobbing pathetically, she had taken down all the boyfriend pictures, cards and assorted paraphernalia, cleared out the randomly acquired boyfriend clothes ... everything. She put it all in a box in the back of the closet that I didn't have to look through or at ever, if at all. And I didn't for a very long time!!

I had a weird experience when it came to getting a Big.
I was sort of spoiled by the sisters. I knew that I was getting a bid before I rushed and I even had some sisters tell me that they wanted me as their little. I was flattered, but I was overwhelmed too, because I didn't know how the process would work, obviously. I didn't want to be put with someone that I would ultimately not get along with, just because they wanted me as their little.
I got to know this one sister a little though. She seemed pretty cool and we were a lot alike. We listened to the same music and we both LOVE Pepe LePew, the skunk. We even looked alike. She never favored me, but just was really cool. I ended up picking her as my Big and when Big-Little revealing came around, I couldn't have been happier than when I saw her standing in front of me.
We have a great relationship, even though she graduated soon after I joined and we don't hang out that much. We still talk as much as we can and I hope that someday when I have a little that we'll have the same great bond that me and my big have.

My big and I both date Kappa Delta Rho's. They live across the hall from each other and that's how I met her. She's fantastically awesome, and that why I picked her.
I went to visit her for the weekend and last night she comes over and gives me a hug and says "Little, you are the love of my life" and like instantly passes out. I was like "love you too big" =)

in my chapter you make a list of four people that you want to be you big and usually you will get at least one of the people on your list. so that is how i got my big sis. my favorite memory of my big is the recruitment after she was a rho gamma. i couldn't hang out or talk to her all summer and especially during recruitment i really missed her. on bid she was leading all the new girls out to our chapter. i along with almost all of my chapter ran out and basically tackled her because we were so happy to see her.

I remember the first time I met my Big. I was in Circle K and she remembered me by my first and last name. Whenever I saw her she made sure to shout it out loud to the world; I think it is because of her people still call me that and will shout it out just as loud. But she is everything to me and more; there was no doubt in my mind that is who I wanted as my big, whether there was in hers or not. I love her dearly; we have a lot in common, yet are so different, which I think is what keeps us bonded. I chose her because she had always been there to make me happy and was pretty much the first person I called when I needed a laugh.
And Big, if you read this, I see you a few up thur!! I freakin <3 you with all my heart and the whole fam!! Woot woot :-) :-D

I didn't really know my Big before I decided to do Recruitment, even though we were in marching band together (she's a twirler, I play clarinet...the paths didn't really cross very much...). Then, I was kind of paired up to her at Open House, by coincidence. We were doing the typical small talk stuff...where I was from...what dorm I was living in...stuff like that. Then she asked me what my major is, and I told her it's Creative Writing. She got super excited because I was the first English major she had met all night (she's Language Arts Education, with a Creative Writing minor). She gave me a huge hug, and one of the sisters passed and said, "Wow. There's a lot of bonding going on over here." After that, when she'd see me in band, she'd sneak up behind me and tackle me or give me a big hug or something. When Big Night came around, and I found out she was my Big, I was so happy I almost started crying.
I've never had an older sister, because I'm the oldest of two, but Liz is like the older sister I never had. She watches out for me and if I have a problem, I always go to her first. When our marching band went to Italy on a trip last year during my New Member Period, just after Liz became my Big, I got sick on the bus on our way back from Amalfi (um...yeah...lots of turns, motion sickness was a given for most of us). Our band director actually had them stop the bus, so I could get off. My Big was the first person to help me. Once she realized it was me who was sick, she ran off the bus so fast it wasn't even funny...when our band director saw her coming, he let her take over the taking-care-of-me part. I love my Big to DEATH!
I've just become a Big, in the past couple weeks. I can only hope I'm as good a Big to my Little as my Big is to me.
