Suffixes

You know what really grinds my gears?

People who name their child "blah blah" II. As in The Second. As in not Junior.

We are not pharaohs in real life. People are Seniors, Juniors, and then III (the Third).

Oooooooooh I hate seeing this! (And I can't say this on facebook because it would hurt feelings lol

But...you are Senusret THEEE First...not senior....LOL

Hypocrite!! hahahahaha!

If this could grind your gears any further, my nephew (although officially he is 'junior') instead of calling him Junior, his nickname is "Deuce". hehehe

I think that if a boy is named after anyone besides his dad, say an uncle, he's supposed to use II instead of Junior.

I was just going to say that. We have some family friends who are very fond of certain names, but nothing like this other family. There was a wedding announcement in the paper for the former "Miss Smith" and "Mr. Jones". The new Mrs. Jones was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Smith XXIII. (Yes, 23rd!) I thought that it was a typo until I kept reading and it said that her grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. John D Smith XXII and that her brother Mr. John D. Smith XXIV was a groomsman.

Remember Tripp from Living Single? His name Ira Lee Williams III and replaced "III" with "Triple," making his nickname "Tripp." I've also know boys who were "The Third" and nicknamed "Tre."

Also, I would kinda like to name my daughter after me so she can be "The Second." Not nearly enough women do that, plus I like my name.

As was said earlier I was always under the impression that you use II instead of Junior when a name skips a generation. For example: before I was born my parents were going to name me Sperry H. Preston II after my grandfather before he vetoed that saying he didn't want to burden his grandson with such a unique name that could incite bullying etc. Thinking back now I actually kind of like that name.

I think Sperry has got to be the frattiest name ever. Hands down.

I would totally name my son Sperry if I knew my sister wouldn't mock him for the rest of his life.

this week alone i've met 2 mother/daughter combos with the same name. at first i was caught off guard, but i like it. i rarely meet anyone with my name & same spelling, so my sole reason for now desiring children is to give 1 my name. ha!
