going alumnae (support group)
i am soooo sad b/c i have to go alumnae on Sunday.
To make the whole thing more dramatic it's I-week for my chapter. Our last nite of ceremonies was last night so that was a bear to get through.
If anyone else out there is having a hard time please spill your guts here.

Woa...Sara...why are you going alum? Are you almost done already or is it something in the chapter? In it's the latter, PM me!

I remember Initiation Week my last semester as a collegian. It was sad to think that this was the LAST TIME I get to have a part in Ritual...the LAST TIME I get to witness Initiation as a collegian...the LAST TIME I get to enjoy Feast of Roses as a Collegian. There were a lot of emotions that week.
And then I completely lost it at the Senior Rededication ceremony. It wasn't a feeling of sadness, but there was so much love out there, and being welcomed into the alumnae circle was an experience I'll never ever forget. It was as if I was being welcomed into AGD all over again.
There are sooooooo many things you can do for AGD as an alumna, and I'm glad I'm taking advantage of them now because the rewards are endless. Best of luck to you and whatever road you choose!

Congratulations! Being an alumna can be a wonderful experience!
The best thing a collegian can do is to be an ACTIVE alumna!

today stinks
i did not want to go alum until i graduate in December. i was going to take 12 credits in the fall even tho i only need 6, just to stay active. but, i found out about 2 weeks ago that this is my last semester on scholarship. so i can only afford to take the classes i need.
i'm definately going to be an active alumnae. i'm already planning to help amy all week with structured... i just wish i could be meeting the PNMs!! oh well i know there's still plenty to do. i don't want to go to meeting tonite... it's going to be a rough one. think about me at 8:30 tonite, when i'll probably be balling.

wow what a rough night...
From the second we started ritual, right up to the end of meeting, everyone just cried their eyes out. We had a good six or seven girls going alum, and it was so hard to see them go. Each of them have brought so much to the chapter. ZA is never going to be the same without them.
Leslie, Amy and I are going alum in December. I'm DREADING that day.
To all my sisters, wherever you are, don't take Alpha Gamma Delta for granted. I started to this year and realized in a hurry last night that my time is almost up. I have no idea what I'm going to do without my sisters. Yes, we may have problems, but every chapter in every sorority has similar problems. But when you can't get through a ceremony or ritual or even a meeting without crying your eyes out because you love your sisters so much, that alone says it all.

Sara,
Congratulations! Today is the first day of the rest of your life as an alumna of Alpha Gamma Delta.
We all have many fond memories of being a collegian, but just remember that you can continue to create wonderful memories as an alumna too! In fact, I've often found that being an alum is MORE fun that being a collegian because you get to do all the FUN stuff without going through business meetings and the stress of recruitment every semester.
Your Alpha Gamma Delta experience is what YOU make of it. That applies to alumnae just as much as to collegians. Join the Junior Circle. Become a member of the Algadel Society. Pay your alumna dues. Your efforts will be repaid ten-fold.
Be the best Alpha Gam you can be! A wonderful experience is waiting for you just around the bend! I'm excited for you!!!
LIEP,
Maria
(PS: Please go re-read the "Important: Cherishing Friendships With But A Chosen Few" thread. If that doesn't make you feel proud to be an alumna, then you're officially hopeless! LOL j/k)

i was so fine when i got to meeting last nite. but as soon as we came in the room for ritual i couldn't stand it. i realized it was the last time i would go through ritual with my chapter sisters.
i'm looking forward to being an active alumna, and thank you maria for your nice message. but i'm sure you know it was hard to leave your chapter. at least i will be around next semester, so i'm going to be "that alumna" who's always poking her nose in and acting like she never went alumna. no, i will really mind my own business but of course i'll still be going to stuff. one thing that is comforting is that there are so many girls who are stepping up and taking control. myself and the other girls who went alum with me last nite know we have left the chapter in good hands.

Sara, of course it is hard to leave your chapter! These are the girls who have been with you through thick and thin and they will always have a very special place in your heart.
I just didn't want you to think *for a minute* that life as a Alpha Gam is over now. You will have a fabulous time as an alumna, too! Just look at all the cool Alpha Gam alumnae on Greek Chat, lol.
Keep your chin up, sweetie!

If anyone had bothered to give me any info on IRD, I'd go too!
Maybe I need a support group for "alums who feel like they're trapped under a rock due to student teaching"! Sigh...
