USC fall 2012 rush as a junior???
I'm currently a sophomore at USC and I'm thinking about rushing next fall. I've made a lot of really good friends so far but I still feel like I don't exactly have a "group" at SC. I really like that in a sorority, you would have a group of people that would always be there. I would rush next year but I'm wondering if me being a junior (and not even a junior transfer) would ruin my chances. I realize it'll be much harder for me and I most likely don't have any chance is the "top" houses but I'm still curious. Do junior rushees even exist? And do any of they get bids?

Do you mean Southern California or South Carolina?

Yes there juniors that rush, but the number of juniors that get bids is very small. From speaking to the girls that I know in sororities, many houses will only take about 2 juniors, and at times, those 2 spots are "reserved" for people that know the president of the sorority or have some other "in". It can be really tough for juniors. But I do know that SigDelt and A Chi O both do COB. Both have great girls and seem more comfortable with taking juniors.

And I'm not sure of the time frame, but presumably either Alpha Xi Delta or Alpha Gamma Delta will be colonizing next fall and they will want members from all 4 years of college. There has been discussion about whether the older students have an easier or tougher time getting a colony bid because we don't know how many try, but regardless SOME juniors and seniors will be invited to join the colony.
That being said, colony membership isn't for everyone and I'd do lots of reading about it here on GC. It's a lot of work but the commensurate rewards can be substantial. And with Alpha Xi Delta you get a really cool colony pin. Just sayin

The new sorority will colonize fall 2013, so she'd be a senior.

Kaeb is correct. That is definitely the "other" USC.

Good to know, and I think good news. I think the colonizing sorority would want to take advantage of a full year for PR and hype-building, plus observing rush, post-rush, etc.
