Maternity bridesmaids dresses!

Hi Gang! Well I just found out a couple of weeks ago that I'm pregnant! A big surprise to both hubby and I. I was wondering if you married folk could help me out though. I am in a wedding in May in which I will be about 71/2 months pregnant. The dresses were already ordered before I found out. Anywho, does anyone have a clue about where I could look on the web for maternity bridesmaids dresses? I tried theknot.com but they just have pictures of dresses not weather or not they are available in maternity. Thanks guys!

The wedding that I'll be in in March has another bridesmaid in it who will be about 6 months pregnant. They ordered her dress 2 sizes up and they'll alter the heck out of it....is it too late to have your size changed?

Congrats!

I was at a wedding where one of the bridesmaids was maybe 7 months pregnant. Another BM was very tall, another was very short, etc. - very disparate body types. They all had their dresses custom made. I think that for the pregnant BM, the seamstress left plenty of extra material, and her final fitting was just a couple of days before the wedding. It looked really good, but couldn't have been cheap!

If the dresses have already been ordered, you could either:

- Take the dress to a seamstress and ask her to alter it
- Take the dress to a seamstress and ask her to create a maternity version of it
- Try to change to a larger size of the same dress and have that altered
- Ask the bride if you could wear a maternity dress in a similar style

I would call the bridal shop immediately and explain the situation. They often hold off a while before ordering the dresses and if nothing else should have a good relationship with the company they are ordering the dresses through and should be able to get the size changed.

I'm sure that any bridal shop has encountered this before!

Good luck! And Congratulations!!

Allison

David's Bridal has a line of maternity BM dresses. Most are simple sheaths cut larger in the tummy.

I'm in a wedding in January (I'll be 7 months then) and ordered my dress 2 sizes bigger, and am having a seamstress friend fit it for me the week before-slightly more expensive, but I want to be positive I don't break the seams!

There are panels that you can have placed in custom-made dresses.

Congratulations!

At my wedding, my matron of honor was 7 or 8 months pregnant, and she just ordered a dress a few sizes larger (the bridal boutique helped decide what size would be best), and she just had it altered when it came in. You should definitely call the place that you ordered it from.

Congrats btw, I am so envious. I had a dream last night that I was pregnant, so today I'm really upset that I'm not. If only my hubby would hurry up and be ready!

The bride has decided that she doesn't think I can wear this dress b/c there is a seam around the waist and it woud look weird or something. She is going to look at a nice maternity store this weekend. Here is a pic of the dress I was supposed to wear. The dress should be red with a black ribbon

That dress is beautiful. Can you still get it and keep it for after the pregnancy?

Oh heavens yes! That dress has already been ordered. I figgure by new years I should be able to wear it again. Actually, it should only take like 3 mo to get back to regular size and I am due July 1 but the only event I can think I would wear it would be new years! Here are some other dresses I'm looking at. They aren't maternity but can be ordered big and they all have the empire waist.

They would all be in that same red color. I emailed them to the bride so we shall see!

Talk to the bridal shop - maybe they could order the dress bigger and when they alter it they could move the ribbon up to make yours an empire waist...
