F on transcript

A consistent A/B honor roll student. Really messed up on one of my classes and received an F. I'm currently waiting to see if my professor will let me make it up. I have all As in my other classes but now 1 F. MY GPA is still high, 3.8 will that F count against me if I try to join an organization?

If your overall GPA is still 3.8, that is still good; BUT, we do not know where you attend college (and please don't tell us!). Because of that, 3.8 may or may not be competitive when compared with other people rushing. Some schools are quite competitive.

Also, your experience may vary depending on if you are trying to join an NPHC organization, an NPC sorority, an IFC fraternity, a Multicultural Greek organization, or one of the many other Greek opportunities available.

If you can re-take the class, and your campus has a course forgiveness/grade forgiveness policy, that would probably be a good idea. Generally speaking, that kind of policy allows a person to re-take a course and have the first grade discounted while the second grade stands in the GPA. This is a good idea, not just for rushing an organization, but for your college record overall. You may want to visit your university's academic advising center to see if that is an option.

Good luck to you!

Depends on the organization, but usually they look at overall GPA, not individual grades.
