(Martinez-AP) -- A 12-year-old boy has been charged in the rape of a 46-year-old woman last week on a hiking trail near an elementary school.
Authorities say the boy faces five felony charges in the attack. A juvenile justice expert says the boy may be the youngest in the Bay Area ever to be charged with this type of crime. Few details were released about last Wednesday's attack. The unidentified woman says a stranger grabbed her as she walked along the Wildcat Creek trail in North Richmond.
The unidentified boy was charged with four counts of sodomy and one count of attempted oral copulation.
Minors younger than 14 cannot be charged as adults in California.
