Lightbulb AIM mp3 swap . . .

OK kids, let's abuse the power of the internet (and our colleges' bandwidth) for something positive, rather than just porn and celebrity rumors.

Here's the deal:

To participate, simply leave your AIM handle and musical interests. If you are uncomfortable putting down your handle, just IM those who have bigger balls, and initiate the trade. You'll swap a couple songs, maybe 1 to 5, from either a.) new genres you're intersted in or b.) bands you don't normally hear. You'll listen, and then if you like it, you'll steal . . . er, buy more by that artist. Good deal, huh dudes?

Sounds like a good way for us to sample some new music. Of course, only public-domain mp3s will be included . . . yep i bet

Anyway, I'll start:

AIM: dubfifty6
Connection: University OC3 (fast)
Likes: alt/emo/punk, reggae, also 'underground' hip hop, post-punk/'new garage', etc
Dislikes: pretty much just country and "shoegaze"

What to send me: something I've never heard of, or something just outside my interests that I'll like. Or money.

Anyway - let it fly, see what happens

I am a rookie when it comes to Kazaa and transferring songs. Can you simply download your songs on your AIM buddy list (is this what this is about)? I had wanted to transfer MY Kazaa list from my apartment to my parent's house (where they have a CD burner). Is this the same way (Downloading it to your buddy list).
Sorry to interrupt the transferring of music. I'd love to swap...I just don't know how

It's extremely easy - AIM has a "send file" feature, whereby you can just simply ship over a file over an open IM connection.

To access it, you can go to People--->Send File to Buddy, or Right click on buddy's name--->Send File

Basically, you'll send the file in the same way as you would download one from Kazaa or Morpheus, just w/out any search function (ie they have to pick out the file to send you).

Make sense?
