See, you all are gonna make me get this book. My sister had told me about it a couple of weeks ago.

Since I'm from Louzyana and Cane River is in {North} Central Louzyana and I have traveled that area ALL MY LIFE. And it depicts the life and times back in the day of, I guess I should give it a read.

Maybe I should establish a Book Club site for us...hmmmmmm.

I read Cane River about 3 weeks ago and it was sooo good that I finished it in four days. I could not put it down! I am not even sure I had a favorite character because I found strength, courage, and marked wit in all of the women of the book.

With my family hailing from Louisiana, it has helped me understand where some of our less than desirable ideas pertaining to skin color and preference came from.

I would reccommend this book to all Sister Friends in need of an eye-opening, yet entertaining read.

This book is one of the best that I have ever read. Who is your favorite character? I loved Philomene.

Soror, I LOVE Philomene! She is SO intelligent and strong. I admire the way she sets out to get the very best for her children. I haven't gotten to the story of Emily yet, but I sense she'll soon be my favorite!

EastCoast Sunshine, You're in for a real treat with this book!
