Post 50th Anniversary jitters

The 50th Anniversary of the Kappa Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega is coming up in just 2 short years! I would really like to to get the ball rolling on how to celebrate this wonderful milestone, as my chapter has come a long way in the last half-century. Any ideas on how to publicize and commemmorate?

I would think you would want to possibly contact your local school paper and put something in there if you want to publicize it. Then I would imagine that you would have a dinner commemorating the event -- get some alums to come. If you are celebrating your 50th, I assume some of your founders are still alive?

Hey, in two years we will be celebrating our 135th year anniversary! Jeez, I never really thought about how long ago our chapter was founded, seems like almost 135 years ago

I'm planning a chapter reunion right now and my biggest tip is to do as much as you can through your school's alum office.

Be sure to put a notice (or a feature story if possible) in your school's alum magazine and on the website.

If you are going to send out mailings, use the school's addresses for your alumni as opposed to the ones from national HQ. They're usually MUCH more accurate, since people know they have to contact the school to keep getting alum stuff, but as far as their Greek org is concerned, tend to think that if they tell one sister it somehow magically gets to nationals.

I gave my school a copy of our sister list and they printed out labels for us. This worked a lot better and faster than dealing with nationals.
