New International President (FYI)

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. elects Paul Griffin new International President

LOS ANGELES – Paul L. Griffin, vice president and director of Urban Initiatives for the School Division of Houghton Mifflin Company in Dallas, was elected to the highest office of 32nd International President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Saturday, July 16, 2005.
President Griffin was overwhelmingly elected by delegates assembled from across the country and overseas and installed as the fraternity’s newest president at the 91st Phi Beta Sigma Conclave in Universal City, California. A member of the fraternity for 30 years, President Griffin will lead the organization of more than 150,000 college-educated individuals who promote the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship and service.
President Griffin is a 10-year employee of Houghton Mifflin, an international publisher of textbooks. He served on the boards of several community service organizations, including the Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation of Houston and the Acres Home Community Development Corporation. He is married with two lovely daughters.
Phi Beta Sigma, a historically African American Greek-letter organization of college and professional men, was established in 1914 on the campus of Howard University, Washington, D.C. The fraternity has three primary international programs – Bigger and Better Business, Education and Social Action – and has partnerships with The American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund, National Marrow Donor Program, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Direct Fund and American Diabetes Association.
