My initiating chapter celebrated 50 years in '01. That same year was my 10th year reunion. So, my memory is kind of hazy, but I do remember:
We also, like Lostnfound's celebration, presented our charter members (1 is deceased) with AKA quilts with their names (charter members')embroidered on each quilt.
We also recognized deceased sorors initiated in the chapter.
There was a display of pictures, sweaters, momentos from each decade 50's to 01.
There were commodations from other orgs and political figures as well. The other highlight was that the President of Grambling, also a chapter intiate was on hand for the weekend.
Also, sorors from each decade entertained the sorors with something they could remember from their era. It could have been a stroll, song they serenaded on campus, poem, or step.
We had a talent show among sorors.
Our favors included: shirt, magnet, canvas bag, and poster. They all incuded the same logo.
As I reflect, I kind of get all misty-eyed. It was such an honor to be in the presence of our charter members. They gave their "testimony" if you will. They were so cute. They did not think that what they had done all those years ago was a "major" event.
I was surprised to learn that one of our charter members and my father were colleagues at one time.
I'm sure you all are going to have a great time. Congratulations on your 25th (in advance). This thread will be a resource to me as the current chapter I am in will be celebrating 25 years in '09. We're planning NOW, well, we are saving money NOW for the event!
