KLP is the only local organization on campus, out of the three other sororities and three fraternities. We're smaller than the other organizations, but we enjoy being smaller and more of a close-knit family.

Greek Week is the main form of support for Marist Greeks, where we cheer for one another unless we are directly competing. In most cases, there are no sore losers and we all congradulate one another. We won GW 2006 and got 2nd place GW 2007, so if anything, with 20 active members , it shows that size really doesn't matter!

When individual organizations sponsor an event, all of Greek Life supports them. KLP and Zeta Psi organize a Blood Drive every semester, and Tri-Sigma organizes Relay for Life. At both of these events, all Greek organizations are represented.

Greeks do receive a lot of support, especially from faculty advisors. I still wish Marist Greeks had more traditional events, like Homecoming, for example.

All of NYU's 14 fraternities are national, but 3 of the 10 sororities are local (including my own). All 3 locals, along with 3 national sororities, make up the Panhellenic Council, so from that perspective, there is a great deal of balance on our campus. Most of the local orgs have been at NYU longer than the national chapters.

How old is your local? NYU is DPhiE's Alpha (as in founding chapter not Alpha of NY) which was founded in 1917 although we were off campus for some years at some point as it it is not 90 years straight.

Who are the other two NPC groups, AEPhi and AST?

There are no locals at Adelphi, they were banned in 1992. I know there are a few locals at St. John's and Hofstra.
The nationals were kicked out of the public schools SUNY etc. back then.

Many local organizations in the New York region do not band together to assist and help each other out. Now is this a bold and outrageous statement or somewhat hitting on the truth? I would love to say that t is outrageous, but who truly knows. I see so many NATIONAL Greek Unity events, but yet no local events. There are so many more organizations that people would like to know, but seldom do, because locals think so introspectively. Perhaps with the year 2008 arriving, some locals can put some events together and really publicize them. I would love to see a Greek Picnic this year or Step Show, or Community Service events from locals would be great. Even local networking would be great. Just some thoughts.

I was going to type ours, Theta Phi Beta, lol but I see my sister beat me to it like last semester! lol

But yeah, as far as sororities go on our campus it's us, Kappa Psi Delta and Alpha Phi Zeta as the locals and the nationals are DPhiE, AEPhi and AST. We'll also have have a new national this fall.

Do any of these local ones allow students from other school to join. (Say, I go to CUNY JJay, could I join one at CUNY Brooklyn???)

Members here there, everywhere

Minitien,
Well, my org was founded at CUNY Hunter, but we do accept member from other CUNYs for the sake of expansion. We have a member at City Tech who is working with a group of interests there to get a colony started, as well as a girl who goes to Temple University. We're working our way around the east coast
