Hi Rebecca,
If you're interested in getting informational recs for recruitment, please visit
www.npcwomen.org and call the phone number provided. Request the contact information for the Houston Alumnae Panhellenic.
An Alumnae Panhellenic is a local organization representing alumnae in your area. Its membership is comprised of representatives of all the National Panhellenic Sororities.
When you call the Alumnae Panhellenic, tell them that you're going through recruitment at (Name of your university) and you would like an opportunity to meet with sorority alumnae of (name the sororities that are represented at your university) in order to learn more about the sororities and to talk to those alumnae about helping you secure recommendations for recruitment.
For information about your university's recruitment, please call the Office of Greek Life at your school. They'll have the best answers for what to wear at recruitment, the dates, what to expect, average costs associated with joining a sorority, fun campus traditions for Greeks, etc.
Good luck! Welcome to Greek Chat-- we are an online community of Greeks and Greek Life supporters, Potential New Members, etc. There are a lot of great ideas floating around the message board, but please take everything you read on here "with a grain of salt." Your campus Greek Life director will have the most solid answers for you about the sororities and recruitment at your school.
Check out the Rush Forum on Greek Chat for General Advice. Remember to use discretion on Greek Chat-- do a search before posting a question (often it's been answered before-- PNM's come on here a lot with questions and we're happy to provide our best answers based on our experiences at campuses across the nation, but remember again that our experience, even if we went to your college 1 year ago or 10 years ago, may not be indicative of Greek Life as it is today your school-- which is why it is so important to call the Office of Greek Life with specific questions, enjoy Greek Chat for what it is-- chatting about being Greek!)
Enjoy! Sorority Recruitment is a fun experience, and I wish you the best at your new college, whether or not you join a Greek Lettered Organization!
