I had the fortune of attending this momentous event. I'm the Graduate Advisor for the uMiami chapter (25 minutes from FIU), and we were (thankfully) invited to attend. Five of us (the High Pi, three undergrads, and I) drove downtown to the chartering banquet and had quite a time. Other than us, in attendance was the Grand High Gamma (Dr. Greg Smith), the Associate Director of Chapter Services (Aaron Parker), this region's ELC (Michael Blow), a few chapter advisors and alumni, IFC and Panhellenic representatives, Student Life personnel, chapter brothers and AM's, and members' dates. The event was organized very nicely and dinner was great. I applaud Pi-Phi Zeta for overcoming some troubles they've had in the past with their chartering efforts, and congratulate them on receiving their charter. And as with any new chapter...don't take too much time to "sigh" after this event! Keep the momentum and continue to grow and improve!
Yours in Z A X ,

p.s. I was especially excited to be a part of this chartering, because I had a personal tie to the group of men that appear at the top of the "Founders" list. I had the priviledge of conducting the Informal Session for every single one of them. See
HERE for a (Feb 2004) GC thread from my undergrad days as High Phi from my chapter. I'm really glad to see they've made it this far...and going...and going...and going...
