Spring rush at Penn State?

Could someone who goes to Penn State help me out? From what I understand it's much less formal than fall recruitment, and not every sorority participates. What's the process like? Thanks alot.

From what I know about spring rush, not all of the sororities are involved and its mainly one night of meet the greeks and then there are 3 nights where you can visit the sororities in East, Pollock and South and then the rest of the events are invite only. There'll probably be more info about spring rush at the beginning of next semester. Good luck!

ice_cold, call the Greek Advisor's Office and find out which sororities are participating in Spring Rush. Figure out if you know any women in those sororities from any of your classes, your dorm, or otherwise. If you do, let them know that you plan to sign up for Spring Rush, and see what they have to say. This way, you'll have made a connection, at least.

Good luck!

I got the dates from the PHC today, and in case any other PSU PNMs are lurking:

orientation: monday, jan 24th
open houses: jan 30th-feb 4th
bid day: feb 7th

They dont know which sororities are doing spring rush, yet. They told me to call back next semester.

I'm just interested in knowing what the open houses are like and how the process of informal rush works. How do they give out invites to private parties? Do they send them via email? Give them out at the open houses?

Thanks alot for your help so far, guys.

This is because if members transfer or graduate between fall & spring semesters, it will change chapter total and whether or not they'll do spring rush. By the same token, they might end up with more people than they thought if people don't graduate. They're not going to go to the trouble of giving parties if they can only pledge one member.

Open houses are just that, OPEN - anyone can go - they'll give out facts at orientation. It doesn't sound like there will be an actual pref party (pref is invite only) so there would be no need to give invites to it. If there is though, I'm guessing you will receive an invite in your campus mailbox or dropped off at your house if you live off campus. Inviting someone by email or giving invites to only certain people at a party would both be extremely, well, gauche.

usually when you get invited back, the sorority just calls you. and the sororities don't have to decide till the last minute if they're gonna do spring recruitment, so i'd recommend going to the open house to see which sororities are participating. pm me if you have anymore questions!
