Sad news for all Delta Zeta Sisters - Loss of a Council Member

I am posting this as a cross-post with the Delta Zeta boards. I have also asked that this not be posted to Surfing Sisters yet, as the President will handle it. Thanks.

Loss of our Dear Sister Karen Veitch

I am sad to report to this board the death of our National Council Member, Karen Veitch. She passed away Monday night. Please keep her family in your prayers. I am not going to post the details, arrangements for her funeral or contact information on the internet, so please, all sisters, check your directories for her family's address or send condolence notes to National Headquarters and they will forward it for you. I will however post snippets of a letter from our National President Denise McCullars:

It is with tremendous sadness that I inform you of the untimely passing of
Karen Kind Veitch, National Vice President of College Chapter Operations on
Monday, April 21, 2003. Her husband, *** and her three sons, ***, ***
and ***are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Karen’s love of her sorority, her friends and her family were evident to all
who knew her. She was devoted to upholding the ideals and values of Delta
Zeta in her thoughts, words and deeds, and her strength of character was a
constant in all aspects of her life. She influenced the lives of so many
and her passing will leave a void in the hearts of those whose lives she
touched in slight measure, and especially those of us who knew her well.

The family has respectfully requested no telephone calls at this time.

As Karen’s extended family, her Delta Zeta sisters and friends, we will
cherish our memories of her and will keep her forever in our hearts. In
doing this, she will continue to touch our lives.
