It sounds like you may have ended up in the wrong sorority. There are some things to clear up before you make any decisions though. Have you been initiated yet? Are you convinced that the "top" sorority will give you a bid and that's where you belong? It's really not a good idea to put all your hopes into one chapter. Would you be happier to be non-Greek than to be in your present sorority? (Because that might just happen if you drop and got through Recruitment again.) How competitive is your campus? Are you a freshman? All of these things need to be taken into account before you make any decisions.

Good luck.

(1) Have you been initiated?

(2) If yes, you do realize that should you resign your membership, you cannot ever be a member of another NPC sorority? (I believe that's also true for NPHC, not sure about others).

(3) Try the search function on GC. There have been others with similar stories to yours.

(4) You do not know if you would have been extended a bid to the other chapter that you preferenced. You simply do not know that. So how would that play out if you'd put them first on your bid, and had ended up where you are at now anyway?

I feel sad for you because this should be such a happy time in your life. Unfortunately, you allowed yourself to be influenced by others with regards to your decision about which house to put as your first choice. My advice would be to stick with it for another semester and see how it goes. I am presuming that you have been initiated? If not, you can de-pledge and re-rush in the future. But, if you decide to stick with it, try not to dwell on what you think that you don't like about the sorority and the members. Look for positive things! Seek out other girls who are like yourself. Ask to be slated for a position in the house! Try to be as active in your chapter as possible. Get psyched for recruitment and offer to be on a committee to help plan one of the parties. Consider a position on your college's panhellenic council. Involve yourself as much as you can. I do think that it will make a big difference in your experience. Good luck to you!!

A good rusher makes you think you are the most wanted PNM rushing. What she said and did have nothing to do with where you would have been on their bid list. The truth is you have no idea if things would have been different if you had put them as your #1 choice.

You need to forget all about the fantasy of what life would have been like for you in that house because you have no way of knowing whether it even could have happened and definitely have no way of being there now that you have been initiated. Concentrate on what you have and either work at making the situation better or quit. Those are really your only choices.

It's greener pastures. LOTS of girls go through the what-ifs after they join a sorority. If you really hate it, quit, but lets be perfectly clear that you do not know if you had a bid to the top house. Every girl who attended their preference party probably thought they were a shoo in. That's how it works when it's done well.

And these trashy ho-bags saw something in you that made them think you'd be a good fit. Hmmmmmmm. Or do you suppose they sat around saying, We want 40 sluts and one princess. Who should we take? Do you think you're being a smidge judgy about your sisters?
