Position Announcement
Alpha Sigma Alpha National Sorority is accepting applications and recommendations for the position of event planner and education coordinator, a vital team member in furthering the sorority’s mission and purpose. Alpha Sigma Alpha strives to develop women of poise and purpose and provides structure and guidance through sisterhood, heritage, and opportunities for leadership and involvement in the chapter, on campus and in the community.
Overview
The event planner and education coordinator administers the programming services initiatives of the organization, is responsible for the preparation and execution of national meetings, designs and administers relevant training for volunteers, and provides day-to-day support to volunteers and alumnae members. Applicants must have the ability to manage multiple priorities and possess excellent human relations, communications, marketing and organizational skills to provide effective program support and services.
Alpha Sigma Alpha National Headquarters is located in Indianapolis, Indiana, which also serves as the home for many members of the Greek community. Alpha Sigma Alpha is supported by hundreds of national volunteers and employs 12 staff members. The sorority works in partnership with the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation which supports the Sorority's educational and leadership programs, offers academic scholarships, and sustains the philanthropic endeavors of the sorority.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess the following professional qualifications: demonstrated ability to design contemporary, relevant program; experience organizing and coordinating large-scale events; excellent customer service and problem-solving skills; and a commitment to the purpose of Alpha Sigma Alpha. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required. A professional with a minimum of two years experience in event planning, volunteer management, corporate training, and/or educational program development is preferred. Membership in Alpha Sigma Alpha is desirable, but previous work experience in a nonprofit membership association is acceptable.
