Univ. of Alabama Delta Delta Delta Breaks Ground for New Chapter House
Delta Mu chapter of Tri Delta broke ground on a new chapter house on December 11th, 2011. The chapter president welcomed guests to the event. The house will be located on Magnolia, next to Alpha Gamma Delta. Members of the Alabama Tri Delta Alpha Mu house corporation were excited to see the start of the construction.
Alumnae, chapter members and Tri Delta friends later celebrated in the present house and viewed artist renderings of the much larger residence.
Tri Delta was installed at Univ. of Alabama in 1914 and will celebrate their centennial in the new chapter house in 2014.

Wait is Tri-Delt at bama the one with the big ivy circular house? That house is awesome looking, is it really old? What are they going to do with the old house?
EDIT: Just google mapped and not covered in ivy...not sure where I got that from, but its still a cool house.

A little Mediterranean influence...nice. And yes, it is the round house. It was pretty new when I started there in 1963. And they really can't add on or do much in the way of renovations due to the round design. Since it is on University property, the "improvements" (the house) will be sold to the University when the lease for that land is canceled...just like will happen with Alpha Gam and ADPi when their new houses there. The university wants to bring on 3 more NPC groups and those groups could buy those houses from the university. Or the university could use them for dorms, etc.

The round house was designed due to the narrow lot. That is what I understood. About the only configuration the architects could use that would fit the lot was a round shape.
As many of you know the chapters at Alabama are huge. Chapters have added on and restructured the interiors to add more space. The Delta Mu chapter has outgrown the old round structure and is looking forward to housing more members in the new building.

That campus keeps getting more and more ridiculous. You have ATO, who has a house bigger than most of the academic buildings on campus, and now you have tri-delt having a bigger house than that. Does anyone know the completion date? I love driving through Alabama's campus and seeing all of the greek life and stuff....Buffalo Phil's is soooo good too.

I love the Mediterranean styling—nice change of pace for an SEC chapter.
