Brother Chesney wins ASCAP award

From the Associated Press:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Kenny Chesney won the ASCAP Voice of Music Award at the performing-rights organization's annual country music awards show.

Chesney performed his song "I Go Back" at the 43rd Annual ASCAP Country Music Awards at the Ryman Auditorium on Monday night.

"First and foremost, I consider myself a songwriter," Chesney, 37, said in accepting the honor. His new album, "The Road and the Radio," will be released next month.

Say, how is your Dad doing? Give us an update.

He's doing good, thanks guys for asking.

There was damage done to his heart and liver, but nothing so bad that he needs dialysis. For a guy his age and living the lifestyle he did, you gotta expect some damage to the insides no matter what.

It's still a lot of pressure for my family though. His diet is extremely difficult, and my mom has had to totally change the way she cooks and the recipes she has used for over 30 years.

Health wise, good, not great. His speech is good except the medication makes his mouth dry and therefore hard to understand once in a while.

One inspirational story is Tedy Bruschi, the Patriots player. Had a stroke 8 months ago, and he's now back on the field playing this week. Simply amazing. There is always hope.

Thanks guys!
